Hi everyone,
I was installing an mSATA SSD in a Mac Mini G4 just recently (via enclosure with IDE/SATA bridge chip).
When searching the web for alignment of Mac OS 9.2.2 partition,
I've found this interesting thread :
http://macos9lives.com/smforum/index.php?topic=6065.0
It seems that SATA SSDs aren't as compatible as a real, native IDE device.
Especially, if strange OSes like Mac OS X are involved.
The old Mac OS 9 is simple enough, like Windows 98.
It will boot from about anything.
Anyway, my original search for aligning a Mac OS 9 partition to 4K sectors wasn't successful yet.
In the past, I tried GParted, which worked ok for Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger.
But for some reasons, fixing alignment always broke the Mac OS 9 "HDD driver" (Toolbox ROM image?).
Best regards,
