The previous thread was locked a few years back.

I noticed that one person had a fix (that worked for me) but it wasn't elaborated on nor am I sure the others in the thread even noticed.

This is for anyone else Googling a fix and landing in that old thread:

Tutorial needs to be started first
Only started; it doesn't need to be completed.
From here, forward, the game can be started successfully
from one of the game modes.
