Sound Blaster 16 CT2910original one with OPL3, under win98 everything works, DOS apps crash with unacceptable exception some crap, how to fix it?
Edit: I updated BIOS and I guess driver causes issue as I had VxD error that was turning PC off but that was RAM related issue, bad stick. Now none of DOS games work with this build. I can replace sound card to ESS with great SB compatibility but I wanted true SB16 in this build. I guess I need to reinstall whole system but I hope not.

Edit: I noticed it all happens right after I'm installing 4in1 VIA chipset drivers. I get yellow ! with Primary IDE controller (dual fifo) and no HDD in system properties (where DMA can be set).

Edit 2: Is it possible 120GB HDD can cause issues? Windows 98 works, games that run without DOS work with sound and music, DOS games work completely silent with generic/Windows drivers. Or maybe SB16's fault?

Okay so I installed ME, Voodoo 3 2000 drivers killed it with error about 'reboot will fix regiester' I did, OS works again but got rid of V3 drivers, ok, I installed chipset drivers, after reboot nothing changed but works - device manager still shows generic driver, ok, next V2 2000 drivers but from its CD and after reboot graphic works, next DOS mode, ok, it breaks but at least runs games and kicks in random moments, I installed unofficial service pack I found for my language version and DOS is a bit choppy in ME window but works with sound and music with SB16 - on windows' generic driver. 😁
