Hello,

Recently I obtained an EPOX 478 motherboard, more specifically EP-4PDA5+ (Rev. 1.0).
The motherboard doesn't post and I inspected all the capacitors but everything seems ok.
One friend suggested after he helped me with a diagnostic board that it could be the BIOS - it seems to him that someone tried to flash the BIOS but it went wrong and I have to look for an image of this BIOS to have the board working again.
According to the diagnostic board (on-board and off-board), the processor and the memory are initialized but there is no image. There is a RF code on the on-board diagnostic LED.
Is it possible that the culprit is the BIOS due to a failed flash BIOS or it could be something else?
If the BIOS is the one guilty, where can I find an image for the BIOS of this board?

Thank you for any help and suggestions!

P.S. I attached some photos. If it doesn't work I also have them here: https://imgur.com/a/pqqvxhT

Found the manual at DriverGuide. https://www.driverguide.com/driver/detail.php … driverid=447407
The last bios file listed on the .NL site is 4PD54521.zip http://web.archive.org/web/20040617205145/htt … os/pentium4.htm
but no luck yet finding it. Seems that bios file was not archived on a quick check.... still looking.
Notes Model: EP-4PDA5+ BIOS: 4PDA54521.BIN (7800) BIOS Date: 05/21/2004
Fixes:
1) Added "A" designator for Prescott 2.4A(133*18) and 2.8A(133*21) CPU.
2) Patch some VGA card hangs up and 80 port show "25"
3) Update Awdflash.exe version to 8.33

Ahh found a newer BIOS mentioned thru https://akiba-pc.watch.impress.co.jp/hotline/ for 4PDA5+
Note: "This article applies to: EP-4PDA5+ 06/10/2004 BIOS
Patch Power LED always off after system restart."

Will try to find one of the older BIOS too for archive sake....

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun
