So my now bestest best mate tells me go his dads as he's having clear out and got a couple of old computers if I want them. I oblige and drive straight round, his dad tells me two of his old PC's are in the other room and to take them or they going charity.

There in the other room two PC's are looking at me, the Compaq Presario 4640 that me and my mate would play on for hours as children in our Adidas popper pants preventing his father and mother from entering the dining room, there was also an IBM PS/2 Model 55 SX.

His Dad still refuses to take any money but settled for a case of real ale.

Compaq Specs (Tiny in size and heavy)
Pentium II 300
64 MB RAM (Must have been upgraded somewhere)
Win 95 OSR 2.5 (Must have been wiped and set back up)
Quantum Bigfoot 6 GB
DVD Drive
Onboard ATi rage II
Onboard ESS Sound card

I've completely stripped the system, gutted it cleaned it and rubbed it all down with ISO. The hard drive to my amazement works fine considering it's a Bigfoot, passes short and long tests in Powermax and survived 30 passes on burn in test. This week I'll be disabling the onboard sound and VGA and adding a ISA Audician 32 plus, PCI 12MB Voodoo 2 and a PCI 8Mb ATI 3d Charger II that has the DVD chipset built in all of which are in a draw waiting to be brought back out of retirement.

I think it's not been switched on since 99, there was a PCI Banshee in it at one time but it died so his father bought a TIME PC as this Presario was aging anyway.

The only issue is the power button and reset does nothing, I flick power switch on PSU to on and it boots, flick to off and switches off, panel buttons do nothing, stripped and cleaned out the PSU and cannot see issue, motherboard looks healthy, so what could the issue be?

I have a Frankenstein job of a Dallas battery on order for the IBM as the one fitted is flat so cannot even post till I have that, I'll be stripping and cleaning that in the meantime and probably start another post for it.
