Hi everyone,

For those that are interested, I just finished cloning an IBM ThinkPad 701C Battery from the ground up and made it all open-source. This is something I've been working on for a while and, as a ThinkPad collector and restorer, something I've wanted for a long time. The main parts of the project are:

  • Reproduction case (3D Printable)
  • Reproduction label (down to the metallic adhesive backing)
  • Terminal board recreation
  • Cloned battery management chip of the original Dallas DS2434

This is part of my larger project 701c.org. Check out https://www.701c.org/projects/battery to learn more.

Incredible achievement! I only had one of these machines for a year and now you make me wish I still had it.

Hello

Could I buy whole battery for 701C?
I have two working 701C’s but with only dead batteries. It would be cool if I get new battery for them.
