anyone know why i keep getting
CANNOT OPEN SCREEN 640x480x256
or how i fix it?

trying to run syndicate wars retail from a CD...

I think it's because the game can't open a 640x480x256 screen.

AFAIK, nobody has got this run reliably on an NT OS.

From what it sounds like, yours may be trying to start in VESA mode and might need a VESA tool.

Of course, that's pure guesswork as we have none of system specifications to help troubleshoot.
