It might be to late as in time 😉 but I can’t find device like it anywhere, I do find one for front 3.5, but i rather have it in the back… no that’s not what she said.

I attached a picture what I’m looking for if someone knows where to get one or have a spear 😉

naa, nothing yet...

Easy enough to make your own with sometning like this - https://www.amazon.co.uk/PNGKNYOCN-Interface- … c/dp/B08XHW7KYC - and a M to F Molex adapter cable. Just Dremel out a blank IO plate and glue them into place.

Interesting concept.

One would need to be careful to avoid accidental shorts . Some kind of tethered connector cover/protector for such a thing would make me feel safer.

Not a fan of those expose pins. 5.25 Hard Drive Enclosures are $10-20

That might be true, i rather test devices directly connected to my pc. i do have harddrive enclosures but they aren't really compliant with other ide devices 😉

I'm not grasping the use or benefit of this device, what can someone use it for? In my mind if I need to connect an IDE cable and molex power cable anyway, I might as well have such cables hanging out of the box. Cleaner look when nothing is connected maybe?

Well is more for convenience when the need to test something, sadly it’s like 1% of all at cases that do allow to open one side, rest you need to remove the hole cover, as my office is small I rather not need to remove cover form tower if I just can connect two cables 😉

Oh this I get it, not having to open the case is a very valid reason. But what's the benefit of it when compared to IDE+molex cables hanging from the back of the case? I can only imaging tidiness when not in use, which is also a valid reason of course.

You can sacrifice mod one of the caddies to be a passthru molex/40pin cable. No exposed pins and easier access from the front.

There are also internal hard drive caddys though you will be limited to 3"5 or 2"5 drives only.
I'm not quickly finding any references.
Someone else will likely know what I mean and have more luck searching it with the correct terms. 😀

edit: added photo, search terms "3.5 IDE PATA ATA hdd dock rack tray caddy mobile for 5.25 slot"

Right to repair is fundamental. You own it, you're allowed to fix it.
