i've been trying to get the game's sound working with very little success. cd audio works just fine - main menu and gameplay music works, as do the intros - but sound effects are extremely distorted. i'm running the game under windows 98 with an audigy 2 zs installed using this guide. i've tried restarting into ms-dos mode but i get a black screen when i launch the game, so i suppose that might be another issue entirely

i've searched around and it feels like a lot of these games are a pain to get working so i'm willing to accept this as a lost cause but for the sake of my partner's sanity (she really wants to play) i thought i would ask here. i may have had the same sound issue in dungeon keeper when i briefly tried it, so could it be a hardware issue?
