Hi, im making some kind of "definitive" DOS machine, and in my testings i finally found the "perfect" CPU bus/speed
My board is a asus p2e-b, i love this board because is baby AT, have atx connector, 83mhz bus, PS/2 mouse, and the bios is easy to mod to accept 120GB HDD. Baby AT is a must for me in a retro machine
Finally after many test, i found that a Pentium 2 400, with 83mhz bus, running at 333mhz, and a maximum throttle is close to XT speed
Then to my surprise, if i set a 60mhz bus, the CPU running at 240mhz... and max throttle... i get... exactly XT speed. Is amazing, i tested some 4.77mhz sensitive games, and all work perfect
Any experience with other chipsets? anyone is able to reach XT speed without software tricks?
P2 at 333mhz is great for many dos emulators, like raine or Fusion. Fusion with P2 333mhz emulate perfectly MacOS8 and Wolfenstein 3D for example
