I have just recently gotten the new version of VDMSound. When I try to install it a message comes up and says I cant because I am not an administrator, yet I am not on a network and I only have one user on the computer. Can anyone help me as I am trying every possible solution to play Wing COmmander Privateer.
oh btw I have tried DOSBox but my computer is not fast enough to run it as well as Privateer.

New...version? VDMSound is dead (long live VDMSound).

Just because yours is the only (visible) account on your system doesn't mean it has administrator access. Check your account properties in the control panel and see if it shows you as an administrator or just a regular user.

Okay when I say new version I mean the latest. As for the account options where do I find these? I looked in Control Panel and couldnt find anything just something called users and all that did was want me to add another user(which I dont want).
btw I have Windows 98

oh yeah I tried that but it didnt work, Ive already asked a question about that version in the Dos forums cause I had a feeling this one wouldnt be compatible with my OS.
But maybe you could help here.
It says I need to install vcredist.exe, I got that file but when I run it a mesage comes up and says that it isnt a valid WIN32 program. Ive got no idea what to do.

I don't know anything about the Win9x port of VDMS, except that it exists. However, it could be that you got a corrupt vcredist.exe. Try getting it from somewhere else maybe?
