Hello,

Does anyone know if this motherboard can run with 128MB of RAM and a 4X multiplier?
https://theretroweb.com/motherboards/s/msi-ms-4145-al3

The manual states a maximum of 64MB and especially "This mainboard supports only 4 banks of memory. So, this means that it can only accommodate 3 pieces of single density SIMM or 2 pieces of double density SIMM..
Should I try 64/64/0 or 32/64/32 (It has 3 slots)?

It also states a frequency divider of 1 (none), 2 or 3. How would I run a 133 MHz CPU with 33MHz FSB, i.e. which jumper settings?
The AG56 BIOS changelog (at driverguide website) states "This BIOS can now support the new AMD Am5x86-P75 (X5-133MHz) CPU.". So it should work somehow. I don't want to run above 33MHz FSB for best stability.

Thank you!

Set the multiplier to 2. It will be interpreted as multiplier 4.

Alright, that's good to know!
Now I'm a bit torn between this board and the Lucky Star LS-486EF REV:B.
I would like to use 128MB RAM and the Lucky Star definitely supports that. And I like how small it is. However, the one I'm looking at is not in perfect condition (previous owner changed some caps, so it was probably running for a long time already).

Also, according to theretroweb, the Lucky Star supports a PS/2 mouse while the MSI board doesn't.
Does anyone know if that's true? Is it difficult to add PS/2 mouse support, or is there another way to use a mouse? I'm looking into these old boards for the first time..
