Hi everyone, I'm looking for the firmware for my Matshita CR-583 IDE CD-ROM drive, I found a link from google to a post on this forum a few years old with a link to a website now defunct. Here is the link https://www.rpc1.org/farzeno/club-internet/fi … are/583_107.zip i have searched though the directorys and cannot find the file 583_107.zip. Can anyone point me to where I might find this file or firmware for this drive? I looked pretty hard through the directorys that are still on the site. Maybe I missed it? Thanks to anyone that can help.

Edit: oops my bad, was a browser issue. Was still on the google drive. Here you go...
Make sure you read the DWL.TXT as you have to state in the command line exact parameters...
And it must be flashed from Pure DOS not some Windows DOS window...

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun

Thank you for your help! I tried running the following command "dwl 0 107.hex /m" and im getting an error in the program that says 3 "Check vendor ERROR vendorID=***MATSHITACD-ROM CR5*** download failed. The drive is definitely a Matshita CR-583 according to my BIOS. I am not sure what I'm doing wrong. Any ideas? I booted from a windows 98 boot disk and am running in pure DOS mode only.

So you have the CDROM as Master on the Primary controller ? Did you follow steps 2 & 3 ?
