I've been looking into possibilities to make better use of the modded Goteks I currently own: one with HxC firmware and the other with FlashFloppy.

In terms of basic functionality they don't differ much and could both satisfy my needs. Just that I have some questions:

- Is it possible to utilize disk images of varying sizes on the same stick? I mean, leave the BIOS setting as-is (be it 1.44MB or 2.88MB), but the image files on the same USB stick could be of any size depending on its contents and use cases. I've found this thread about someone made a 6.8MB image working on a HxC Gotek, but I'm not really sure, as there were also another thread about using larger images, but the OP was not able to make it working (maybe it's because of the target hardware's FDC).
- I wonder what exactly behind the scenes do the floppy disk type options in the BIOS setup, like 720K/1.44MB/2.88MB, decide? And among those, what really matter for a modded Gotek rather than an actual floppy drive? I'm thinking if setting floppy disk type to 2.88MB will not have any other impact than increasing data transfer speed for a modded Gotek (regardless of actual image size) then it might be a good idea to do so.

NOTE: Considering floppy disk formatting utilities obviously won't understand arbitrary sized images I won't be trying to format them from within, and would prefer setting the emulator read-only if possible to avoid anything trying to format the disk simply because it doesn't recognize the "diskette" (be it being hardcoded to assume certain sizes, or due to incorrect configuration of the emulator).
