Hello guys!

I usually never ask for help, and when I do is when i am completely disperate... now, sadly i am an extremely introvert only on the internet, and some times i lost myself when trying to explain something 🤣

but i'll try to go as direct and fast possible this time, hoping you nice retro fellas can help me!

I need to install both Windows 98 SE and Windows 2000 Pro SP4 on a single HDD 160GB Sata LBA 48-bit supported, but i am too rusty and despite following some guides and tried some patches (R.Loew) i realized i am completely noob and bad 🙁 the problem is AFAIR is W98SE Vanilla don't like or support partitions more bigger than 137GB barrier, indeed when i try to make a partition on FDISK it says is only like 32GB.

I need to split the disk in two FAT32 partitions: one 70GB for W98, the other 80GB for Win2K. First installing W98, after W2K so that it makes an automatic dual-boot menu.

The problem is I don't really have any idea how to do this. I tried with GParted to split them in two making both primary partitions, fat32, but at installation W98 tells me to format it and when it does it erase the second Gparted empty partition created, remaking it whole 149GB partition.

So please as you can see i am really desperate and rusty, can someone explain me in a totally easy way how i can simply make these two partitions using my full 160GB?

Thanks!

I think personally you should limit the W98 partition further in size, you'll likely never need more than 32-64GB, and even if you did, you could partition the drive into 3 and have a 2nd FAT32 partition that can share data/applications between 98 and 2k.

Secondly, there was an updated executable for FDISK that addressed the (mainly cosmetic) issue around reported partition sizes: https://archive.org/details/windows-98-and-se … drive-fixes.-7z
