Hello, this is my first post here!

Basically just as the title says - my Dimension 4100's PSU sounds a bit like a beehive. At the first power-on, it is sufficiently quiet - I can hear the fan running but it's not anything super loud. The PC runs Windows 98 SE, and when I use MS-DOS the PSU stays quiet. It's when I boot into Windows and use it for a bit that the supply really starts to get rev up and get irritating. Atm, I don't remember the exact mobo or PSU brand I have, though I can provide them if needed. I have not made any mods to the system other than upgrades well within specifications. I know that the supply is a 200w OEM model; unfortunately, it has a proprietary 8-pin motherboard connection instead of ATX. Any fixes, or is it time to look for another supply?

The fan is the only moving part in there. Ocassionally other components can make noise but 99% of the time it's the fan. You should be able to find another one of similar size and swap it out.
