Hello fellow vogons,

I have an old IBM 7020-OEM with flowing specs:
Originally based around a PS/2 Value Point model, but AIX compliant.

Processor: 66MHz
Architecture: Power PC 601
Memory: 6 Memory Slots - 8, 16, 32
Memory Type - PS/2 ECC SIMM
Internal Expansion Drive Bays - 2 per I/O Modules
Media Bays - 2 per I/O Modules
Bus Slots - 4
DSAD: 360MB to 4.0GB
Integrated SCSI: Intg SCSI-2 50 Pin HD
Integrated Ethernet: No

Any idea were to get extra 8 MB ECC SIMM or any recommendation on a period correct operating system that would run on 8 MB RAM ?

Thank you

Maybe NT 3.5 PPC version (REMOVED has it) ? Some one did here: https://virtuallyfun.com/2020/08/02/the-lost- … he-rs-6000-40p/
and a IBM announcement: https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/announcements/arc … ive/ENUS194-338
not sure about the ram...

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun

Thank you for the advice.
It seems Windows NT 3.51 requires minimum 12 MB ram. So I need to find that exotic ECC SIM
If I am successful. I will post it here as a continuity

Kind regards.

Yeah actually the RISC based systems (Alpha, PPC, etc) require 16Mb minimum, only the x86 has the 12MB minimum for NT3.51.
Can you post a picture of the current ram and board ? am curious what it looks like.

OK so the ram is quite weird. It says it supposed to be Memory Type - PS/2 ECC SIMM
But from the markings it is : IBM 4108 73G3125 92G7211 8186777 8MB DIMM Memory Module 70ns, 168 Pin pSeries

I found one instance on EBAY. The stick is 25 USD (That would be OK ) but shipping 328 USD ? Its a joke

Here are the ram pics

Regarding the motherboard I did not want to pull it out of the case, since it is quite complicated.
But here are some general pictures

Yeah even shipped two states away is near $20. Those are 5v FastPage ECC 'buffered' 168pin. That IDT chip is a 16bit buffer/line driver....
