DOS reports 560K preventing me from loading large programs. I don't exactly know how the DISKONCHIP works but I believe that it may be loading into the conventional memory, reducing the available reported memory. The following is a statement from DISKONCHIP manual "After the BIOS identifies DiskOnChip 2000 as a valid BIOS expansion device, it executes the code stored in the boot block. The BIOS then loads the TrueFFS software from the flash memory into the host memory, delivering full disk capabilities to the operating system. This code is identical for all DiskOnChip 2000 capacities, since TrueFFS automatically detects the memory capacity of DiskOnChip 2000." Any clarification on this ?

Remove the disk on chip IC. This is not your use case. Use IDE either hard drive or CF on a IDE to CF adapter.

Unfortunately, this PC104 SBC is from an industrial product which has modified bios disabling the IDE regardless of bios settings. Regardless of what I have tried, it will not detect any drive using IDE. To bad I cannot flash to an original bios, cannot find it anywhere.

Aw, I ran into same thing, mine was one I really liked because of pentium mmx 266 at 1.9V with beautiful PCB. Went straight to VxWorks boot. Firmware is phoenix pico bios.

Best way is match up the chipsets and use different firmware? I'll do the same when I have a chance.

Is the BIOS an Award one? Can it be used with MODBIN to un-hide IDE settings or change the defaults?
Is the IDE disabled at the chipset level or just ignored as a boot device? If the latter can you replace the DiskOnChip with an EEPROM holding XT-IDE Universal BIOS?
