Hello everyone:

I have a Windows 98 gaming build that i'd like to use with my Windows 10 laptop.

Since the only way to remote access Windows 98 is through TightVNC (and since we all here know what that means), I've been doing some research and I think i came up with something:

Access Windows 98 with TightVNC.
Get both video and audio output through a capture card .
Get the capture card display with OBS.

Now, my question is:

Is there a way to use TightVNC in "input only mode" (in order to mitigate the input lag), leave it in the background, and use only OBS for display?

Thank you.

Why do you need to use your Windows 10 laptop? Is it absolutely necessary?

I'd be surprised if you could get any reasonable performance with this setup.

Not necessarily, i can use my Windows 11 desktop as well.

The performance was reasonably acceptable, way better than with TightVNC alone.

The only problem is that (aside from the input lag) I need an additional monitor to display OBS.

Why can't you share a monitor with your Windows 98 and 11 computers?

Because it's already been shared with my Windows XP build.

Why not get a KVM switch then?
