I would like to use my Roland Sound Canvas SC-55k with a Gateway GP6-450 and am confused how to do so. My goal is use the SC-55k in Windows 98SE with games such as Doom, Duke Nukem, Sim City 2000, etc.

I was advised to use the game port, DB15, but the SC-55k does offer any instructions on how to connect. I have a solder able mini-din 8 -> DB15 and DB25 ports.

-SC-55k manual (Japanese): http://lib.roland.co.jp/support/jp/manuals/re … 00/SC-55K_j.pdf
Page 40 describes the connections

- SC-55 MKii manual (English) - similar model: http://cdn.roland.com/assets/media/pdf/SC-55MKII_OM.pdf

Ports on the Gateway PC are attached. Windows 98 indicates there is a Sound Blaster 128d Midi out.

Sorry maybe one of the Roland experts here has an idea.

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun

I think my confusion is I an trying to use the mini 8 din port, but should just use the traditional gameport DB15 - midi port on the SC?

Maybe this cable is what I need? https://www.ebay.com/itm/354906018920

Sorry, I am very confused on this topic. Appreciate any help!

Also Yes...
At least its one that can be modified...

Thanks 😀

I will proceed with ordering that cable.

You mentioned the cable can be modified. Why would I need to modify the cable?

Probably not. They are normally wired up as standard midi cables.
I said it just in case it has some weird pinout for some kind of specific device.
