Hello Everyone,

I am sure some of you already went through this with your IBM 300PL Tower. This tower features an AGP port however I cannot seem to figure who to insert the video card (tried with TNT2 Ultra and a Quadro2 Pro)
Here is a picture of the case for the 300PL I have in my possession.

There is an older post of a build in Vogons where the person shares pictures of the inside of the case... however the pictures are not available anymore.
IBM PC-300PL - Diamond powered!
The post is very detailed though and mentions a double backplane to support the AGP card. It also references IBM manuals uploaded on the site and one of them shows how to install the AGP card and does not mention any riser... However I am not able to follow the instructions. The card metal plate ends on the motherboard so that's not good. I also removed the card plate but it still does not fit into the slot. The card would fit with the outputs facing the other side. Again it does not make sense to me.

Any idea?

Thank you,

Good work that you figured it out ! Yes a few of us have run into this situation. You might be able to make a temporary one from a standard bracket or from sheet metal, to get by until you find a real one.....

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun

There were some Compaq Models using the same type of bracket. Namely the Deskpro 4000 and the profesional Workstation 5000.

With a little luck you might use a low profile Bracket with a standard AGB card.
