DOSBox running with VDMSound

Previously I've had DOSBox v0.63 running fine on my machine (XP).
I installed VDMSound to get syndicate working directly under windows (which is does very well) however now DOSBox will not start up. I get the 2 dos windows popping up but they disappear so fast I can't read what the error is.
Any advice on what to do to get both working on the PC at the same time (i.e. I can run programs under either DOSBox or under VDMS when I want to compare).

Strange. DOSBOX has nothing to do with VDMSound.... Do any other Windows programs still work with sound? It looks like you screwed up something in Windows by installing VDMsound...

Yes everything else works fine. Is there any way to capture the messages in the DOSBox before it closes?

OK I've solved it by uninstalling and reinstalling DOSBox. I think it was coming up with fatal signal but I couldn't read any more of it.

Run dosbox from command line, so the output will be preserved.
