I have Mech 2 v1.1 installed for DOS running inside Windows 98. Flawless in every way with audio and sound.

Using a SB LIVE CT4830 gameport connected to a Wingman digital 3D.

Trying to figure out how to configure the settings for it to communicate properly. During the calibration stage after setting up which joystick you have, I’m getting funky behavior from the calibration window. Mainly the joystick glitching all over the place with the input from the X-Y axis.

Throttle input during gameplay is similar to you winging the throttle up and down as fast as you can with no input from the actual user doing anything at all.

I believe part of this is an issue with the GP on the SB card itself. Anyone have any tips or pointers for sorting out the functionality? Better/best drivers?

CH pro mode is what I’m attempting to use via the in game settings.

I do have a MS precision pro joystick as well that I’ve tested with the same behavior.

I will add that the joystick (wingman) and Game port function fine in Mechwarrior 3 and 4 outside of DOS. I know there’s a config or a driver somewhere out there!

Thanks guys.

Reviving this old thread of mine for new exposure. Still have never figured this one out.

To rescope, having issues with joystick output when running in DOS mode. Anything that is axis based is scrambled.

Well...early PC joysticks were very noisy: they act like they're moving a little in all directions even when perfectly centered. Also, a program has to lock up the system for a few split-seconds while tallying the joysticks.

I appreciate the reply. This is definitely not stick drift or anything like that.

The game has a calibration screen for joy’s and you can see the input Dot flying all over the place on the “map” All axis based movement is a mess.

I am beginning to think it’s a driver problem with my CT4830. If anyone has a link to drivers for this card id appreciate it. I will play around and look. But it has to be a conflict of the DOS/gameport driver. 98 gameplay is smooth as can be.

Attached is the driver suite I am using currently from PCL.

Try driverguide.com. That site has helped me before. 😀

Did you try running the games in DOS mode?
