SWOS Too Slow

I recently downloaded DMSOund and finally got Sensible World of Soccer 96-97 working on my PC. However, despite having 600Mhz processor and over 600MB of RAM, it is quite slow.

I have downloaded the SetSound thing but don't have a clue how to work it. Are there any easier alternatives or do I need to work out how to use it? I usually run SWOS by right clicking the exe and chosing run with VDMSound or whatever.

Cheers

Stuart

Unfortunately SPEEDSET only works with real-mode games (and SWOS, IIRC, is p-mode). If you know someone with DOS/assembly programming experience you can perhaps ask them to adapt SPEEDSET to a p-mode environment. These kinds of speed problems are in 99% of cases due to the issue that SPEEDSET tackles (but, again, SPEEDSET as it is now doesn't work for protected-mode games).

Thanks for your help. Seems I'll have to do without it then 🙁

To complicate matters, it apparently needs VCPI memory. DosBox returns this error: "VCPI Functions 0 not supported"

Your best bet is to find and emulate the original Amiga version.

You could always try to emulate the freely available "Sensible World of Moon Soccer" in the meantime... (at http://www.back2roots.org/Games/List/S/ )
