Great job!
Thank you! 😃

Does this card and the drivers allow you to work with protected mode games?
Never had an Action Replay. so instead I just learned how to use C++ to hack games.

Unicorn herding operations are proceeding, but all the totes of hens teeth and barrels of rocking horse poop give them plenty of hiding spots.

Nope, real mode games only.
I just received my card today. Looks great!
Thanks!

The Action Rewind is equipped with firmware 4.8.
From 4.0 onwards, protected mode games should be supported. At least it was advertised at the time. I haven't tested it myself yet.
See attached brochure from Datel.

The screenshots and executables seem to hint on protected mode being supported with this version (4.😎 and it's newer than the version shown in the LGR video (1.1 AFAIK).

"PROT is a small memory resident program (TSR) that holds all of the Protected Mode functions that enable the Action Replay to work with Protected Mode games, such as DOOM, UFO, Theme Park etc. If this program is not loaded then the Action Replay can only be run in Real Mode (normal 640K DOS operation)."

Oh, I did not know that. Sorry for misleading. Yes, I was basing on the LGR video, where he mentioned real mode games only.
Protected mode games support could be a significant selling point, at least for me.
Has anyone tried it? I wonder it works well.

awesome ! thanks for the update and for the support!
well I did a quick test with DOOM
after AREPLAY.COM is loaded you also need to run PROT.EXE - as the message says HIMEM.SYS might be in the way or not...
so I fired DOOM and the AR menu was available with the "PM" indication. I saved the screen in c:\temp\doom.pcx and it worked
so I guess for max compatibility you can make a boot item with no HIMEM.SYS and let protected mode games do their own thing with memory management since they don't really care about HIMEM...

hope this helps!
I remember using some software for this in dos real mode.
In fact there were several of them.
If I think hard the names will come.
They worked pretty well.
What is the purpose of the hardware component ?

One of the features that I really like is the state saving function. This allows you to save a game at any time and restore it if necessary. 😀
For other features just take a look at the brochure I posted on this thread (or LGR's video).
also a sidenote, LGR's card had an old 1.x firmware so things look different
I sent an Action Rewind and he should be getting it soon - maybe we get a blerb or something (I hope so!)
awesome project guys
Is it still available ?
I just fill out the form.
Yep , Action Rewind is available there is plenty of stock 😀
Received mine recently and finally found some time to test the card. It works like a charm! We definitely need more new products like this. Thanks Leo!
