Hej hej:)

First time poster. Spent the last few months collecting bits and pieces to put my dream XP setup together. PC is a used NEC Deskmate with an i3-4130 I threw an SSD and a GT730 into. Viewsonic A90, Dexxa mouse, and Unicomp Model M to finish it up. Posters I got printed out at a local shop.

Oh no! I hope you didn't have permanent damage to your equipment/software/games! I like the vibe of your room, makes me a bit jelly.

Why not hook it up to a KVM switch?

I have most of machines in box in my room

The attachment Imagepipe_0.jpg is no longer available

But still many boxes in tje computer room, but lucky me no one get much damaged, some small loss. The msx, amiga, spectrum, valuable games survived

thanks!

nice corner, good to see the soldier of fortune box in pride of place, and confirmation of year 2000 compliance too 😀

Looks very tidy! I am curious though, why it seems you have so many multi-meters and oscilloscopes.... I am not an expert in electronics, so forgive me for my ignorance, if all of those similar looking things have different functions. Haha.

It's not always this tidy. 😀
And yes, those things all serve a different purpose indeed, except for a couple of handheld multimeters which cover the same functionality. But then again, you can never have too many multimeters. (don't ask!)

Love that MU2000. Is that your favorite synth?

Any chance you have a display of all your midi gear? I’m sure many of us would be drooling.

Before I moved I had a really nice setup. Still have the hardware but the desk is gone, when I put it in storage it got water damaged /:

The PC Specs:
- Dual Pentium III 1GHz CPU's
- Modified OEM IBM Intel OR840 Motherboard
- 2 GB (4x512MB) PC-800 40ns RAMBUS Memory
- GeForce II Ultra 64MB (VGA out on this card has since gone bad, looking for a replacement / fix)
- Sound Blaster Live 5.1 Platinum
- Mitsubishi super disk drive
- Some Sony DVD-ROM drive
- 2x 128GB SSD's w/ SATA to IDE adapters (one for Windows 98SE and the other for Windows 2000 Professional, both are housed in a single drive caddy)

Loved when I had that setup, I even had a startech VGA capture card so I could stream what I was doing on it to my friends on discord, it was awesome.
I took these pictures on a sony Mavica, MVC-FD200 I believe. Only issue I had with the setup was the SATA to IDE adapters were a bit unstable, I'd probably just install a actual SATA PCI card next time.

Hi folks,
Added a few more period pieces to The Lineup: A cable nightmare that has evolved over about 7 years without a full rebuild.
Pretty much one tiny thing is always broken (Today it's the DVD-ROM on the Pentium 4).
Yellowing isn't pretty, I'll get to it some day!

Looks somewhat similar to my setup during covid, including been in the attic space.
However I need the space under the desk for my legs, so would stack towers 2 high.

I'm in the process of setting up my "fleet" now and trying to keep cabling somewhat managed, but I think organised mess is the best you can do after 3 or 4 computers.

I also never have all the PC's working.
The negative is having to maintain so many old computers.
Positive is you can quickly jump to another machine if your just in the mood to play a certain game.
And lets be honest sometimes your in the mood to fox rather then play.

Yellowing adds character. I don't look the same as 20 years ago, why should my PC?

Aww, you have them 2 Voodoos))) I have a Voodoo, because I love Need For Speed IISE. Having two of the 2nd generation paired must give you 1024x768 on W98, is that correct?

Anyways, your impressive display makes me think of getting that server case I have bookmarked somewhere and building the second retro set some day with the damned Radeon 2600 pro the nasty girl ))
