specs
pentium 3 866 mhz - 448 mb ram pc 133 reduced to 64mb via bios - motherboard Asus CUV4X-EA - 40gb maxtor HDD diamond max - built in c media cmi 8738 audio chip

iso used OS/2 warp 4.52 cp2 refresh 14.089 w4 (2 CDs)

as the title said is possible to use a 40gb HDD to install OS/2 warp 4.52? if yes, can someone explain to me howcan i do it?

this hdd has an hardware cap limit option which reduce the disk to a 8gb partition but the installation will fail/freeze during file copy or right after file copy

i also need a patch to use the built-in audio chip on OS/2 w4 if possible (c media cmi 8738)

thanks in advance

Yes, you can use a 40 GB HDD - but you need updated drivers:
OS2 on IBM T42 found a drive greater than 8GB and block install

448 MB RAM shouldn't be a problem, either - no need to reduce to 64 MB.

CMI8738 drivers seem to exist, both dedicated and UniAud:

I've never tested that CMI8738 myself.
However, as the drivers exist, it should be compatible.

i have tried this with OS/2 warp 4 i applied files as the read me siad to disk 01 but i got stuck at "insert diskette 1"

1 downloaded the the win world iso of os4
2 i extracted disk 01 img content with 7zip
3 i replaced IBM1S506.ADD and IBMIDECD.FLT with the one from idedasd
4 i renamed DASD32.DMD with OS2DASD.DMD and replaced the file from diskette 1
5 i added SET COPYFROMFLOPPY=1 line to the top of config.sys on diskette 1
6 i used winimage to write the modified folder to a floppy and used the same program to write the other floppy
7 i insert diskette 0
8 when asked i insert diskette 1
9 i waited 30 minutes but i am still on the same page, the caps lock works tho
what di i do wrong?

Press Alt+F2 during bootup - it should display names of the loaded drivers...

BTW: you have tested the hardware, right?
Memtest and thorough HDD surface test are compulsory before any OS installation.
