Hello, any advice would be appreciated for installing windows 95. I have an OEM CD. I have apparently messed up 2 ssd's. After running fdisk and restarting, the boot disk just hangs at a blinking curser and does not do anything else. I have windows 95 on the hdd that came with the machine. I am guessing I formated it wrong. I made a 2gb partition and made it active on an spare ssd and the same thing happens. Since it does not boot from CD I seem to be stuck.

Try fdisk /mbr and sys c: from your boot disk and then restart

How is the SSD connected? Is it an industrial IDE SSD? SATA-IDE converter? Such things don't always work

That looks like one of the Dell-looking ones in the picture.

Its a Palo Alto case. https://web.archive.org/web/20240901231021/ht … ch.com/show/335

Sad we now have to use wayback machine for Anandtech now.... the native links worked earlier this year but no more.

I was happy it came with this case. Back in 2007 I ordered a Dual Pentium Pro 200 Micron system from Ebay and it came with this case. Happy Memories!

I still have the Micron PII 300 Millennia XKU I bought originally from the Golden Valley, Minnesota outlet store.... same store I had bought my Zeos Pantera 60 from a couple years previous before the reverse takeover.

I want to find another Zeos Pantera 60 in its monster full sized tower like I had but they are harder then hens teeth to find for me anyway.

Does the computer fail to boot at all after creating the partition? Do you have another PC you can prepare the partitions in? That would be the most secure method.

After Fdisk, you did "format C:" from the same boot disk you got to fdisk in? Though, you might not be making it this far.

I use a 775-era computer to boot Clonezilla to clone drives, you might be able to "cheat" windows 95 onto a SSD this way as well.

Main Loadout (daily drivers):
Intel TE430VX, Pentium Sy022 (133), Cirrus Logic 5440, SB16 CT1740
ECS K7S5A, A-XP1600+, MSI R9550
ASUS M2N-E, A64X2-4600+, PNY GTX670, SB X-Fi Elite Pro
MSI Z690, Intel 12900K, MSI RTX3090, SB AE-7

I had read that HWiNFO 32 did not run on windows 95. I had hoped the (OSR2) version would be the exception.
