Price of a Windows Server license, for starters... Nothing to do with code quality or security.

Bull. Folk are payed to maintain those Linux servers ffs.

As for the so called myth about nobody is checking Linux/GNU code, that is laughable because that is exactly how Linux was created in the first place 🤣.

Windows has a so called Windows insider program to do something similar. Yet it still has to interrupt users doing tasks every week to update.

All fanbois are really fun to play with,..😉

Well, ya know what? Windows update never interrupts me when I am using my computer. I leave it on for weeks at a time. It has only ever auto-rebooted for updates when I leave it running overnight when it is idle which is when the idle / inactive time window is set in Windows for it to allow it to do the updates itself.

You just contradicted yourself there..😉

And I know it interrupts the majoty of users when it updates and there is tons of posts and documention on the internet about it. So don't pretend it doesn't happen.

I was thinking MS has planed to go Carbon Free by 2030, but it seems Windows 11 will stop this Target 😁
It will generate biggest Trash Pile ever made by a Operating System, if they don`t rethink their doings.

Fairly sure just about every Android update is worse*.

Not saying a lot of people replace phones to update OS, just that there are more than would buy a new computer to update OS. But as I've already said, thinking OS upgrades is a significant eco waste problem is prioritizing your resources very wrong.

* Also macOS, for entirely different reasons.

Yeah i don`t see the Point.
Just do 2 Versions, Business Edition with TPM enforced, Home Edition without/optional.
Then almost all Devices that would run 10 would be supported.

No, I didn't contradict myself. How is it interrupting me when I have the time for it to do automatic updates when I am sleeping? And even if I stay up all night it detects that I am actually using the computer (not idle) and won't do any updates until the next day unless I manually tell it to do updates.

I have 5 or 6 desktops and laptops set up this same way and they never give me any problems.

Maybe I just know how to use my computers.

I do use Windows 10 Pro and I am pretty sure that Windows 10 Home has less user control over the Windows updates but I haven't messed with Windows 10 Home as I never had reason to.

I've been on 10 Pro since the preview releases and always stay up to date and usually have my computers on the insider preview track as well.

Thank you for a more more detail account of your use case. I'd imagine the vast majority of users are on the Home version. My wife's laptop came with that it does quit and update without any prompting/warning. For up to half an hour in some cases. She was never given the option to put Windows 10 Pro on it when she purchased it.

Heartbleed. No one checked. Oops.
sudo: evelation of privileges. No one checked for 20 years. Oops.
That Debian maintainer who famously introduced a security vulnerability by mistake. No one checked. Oops.
The numerous OpenSSL vulnerabilities that prompted the LibreSSL fork after 20 years of embarassing security flaws. No one checked for so long, people got fed up. Oops.

Ah, the naïveté of youth...

And all the Window s vulnerabilities prey tell|? The reasons for the weekly update...

Isn't that what the Insider program is ment to pick up on?

Windows could be very annoying when you turn on the computer and it takes 10 minutes to install some odd update,
or opposite if you want to shut it down and want to go out and turn the power off and the same "Don`t turn off Computer Windows is disturbing you with Updates" shows up.

Or you simply want to Print some Pages and finish your working day.
But Windows 10 responds with Bluescreen because Microsoft trashed the Print Function 😉

That is so clever and innovative.

Matrix printers, it trashed support for matrix printers (needle printers).

It's just one of many annoyances that Windows came up with in the past years, though.
On older versions, you could at least skip some updates.
Windows 10, if at all, allows this in Pro versions only.
