What motherboard is this ? Do you have a mix of EDO and SD-RAM? EIDT: Ha no I presume this is the L2 cache module ?

It is a some sort of motor controller, that has suffered a catastrophic failure...

One chip two chip, dead chip blew chip. If not motors, some other high power inductive load.

Left a big enough hole to get it back in though, go to grocery store and get a bottle of liquid smoke flavoring and a turkey baster...... 🤣

I was wondering what you could be driving that would cause you to detonate a DAC. That would also explain the fuse and external power input on the inner edge.

For the PC XT I found an interesting solution, for the video card, I have an 8-bit ISA, which should be a Hercules (or a monochrome one), the connector for the monitor is with 9 pins, unlike VGA monitors that have 15 pins, so to solve I had to find an 8-bit ISA VGA, or a monitor with 9 pin input, or a 9 to 15 pin adapter.

After various searches, I found a fairly inexpensive solution, a connection cable to the monitor, with VGA port on one side and 9-pin port on the other.

Just replace it with that of the monitor, which has two VGA input outputs, and connect the 9-pin to the Hercules ISA 8-bit, while the other goes to the VGA monitor.

There are some early VGA cards that have a 9pin connector, but if that's not what you have in your XT, that's not gonna work. I assume you have some sort of CGA or Hercules card and this will definitely require signal conversion if you want to use a VGA monitor.

Yes, exactly, I want to use an 8-bit ISA card, probably Hercules (or CGA), which has a 9-pin video output. Using the cable I ordered, it will connect the video card (9 pin) to the VGA monitor (15 pin). The only doubt is whether the Hercules frequencies are supported by the VGA monitor, because otherwise I would have to find a monitor that has no problems with those frequencies.

It's not just the frequencies.
MDA,CGA & EGA all output TTL signal levels 5V (If I recall correctly)
While VGA is analog output max signal level is 0.7V maybe 1V.

Right to repair is fundamental. You own it, you're allowed to fix it.

Ouch, if so and probably yes, I spent money on a cable that will be of no use, honestly I didn't know this Volt thing, at this point the only solution is a 9-15 pin converter, I've seen one used in Necroware, I don't know what it costs but the alternative to that is a VGA ISA 8 bit like trident or gremlin.

Is that trackball actually wireless? I see it has some radio like logo next to the ball, but also what looks like a cord? And wouldn't "WIRELESS" be written all over the box?
