Gratz!

Would be awesome if you could:

1. Test if there is any performance difference on the Neon250 between AGP and PCI
2. Test if there is any compatibility difference
3. Upload that disc to vogonsdrivers 😀

Sorry don't know much about this system yet except that it's a microcomputer with an 8088 cpu (I think) and it is not working / is missing the keyboard. It switches on and the screen works but it doesn't appear to be self testing or anything.

I don't think that's an 8088 machine. Probably a 8080/8085 or Z80. You would need a CP/M floppy if that's the case, and good luck finding software for it. Most of the CP/M repositories closed down a long time ago and there's not a lot of people sharing the software any more. There might be a couple of websites with *SOME* of the formerly vast collection of CP/M software, but I strongly suspect that much of it is permanently lost.

It's a Heath/Zenith machine. I can almost assure you someone has copies of the floppies. Mind you they won't be much use without a keyboard. I wonder if one of the cracked nuts at Geekhack had something to do with that... 😒

Go hit up the Vintage Computer Forums. I'm sure someone can help you address all your issues. At least your display shows a good raster.

Also looks like a slight video BIOS version difference too! 😀

Yip. They are damn helpful and quite a few CP/M fans there as well. Some even developing their own software.

Interesting, I wonder why Matrox chose to put such beefy, long VGA connectors on the G450? Never seen anything quite like that!

Can be seen also on some GF4 Ti cards. But theyre rare and dont know why they made them so long....

Ferromagnetic filters built-in? Anyway, I'm sure it's about signal quality, the main focus of most Matrox products.

look at pcb on other side, it has a dvi section and behind second section for vga.
Simply, it can be vga conn here or dvi. Nothing less, nothing more.

But Matrox has 2 long connectors and only 1 optional DVI. Aesthetics? Mine is exaclty the same on the other side btw.

ATI All-In-Wonder 9800 Pro AGP 128MB + breakout cable. Found this at the local used hardware store that (Sadly) is closing down, everything in the store is -60% off now, so I got the card + breakout cable for $10 + tax out the door. I'm thinking I can find software online somewhere and try to use my recently bought AthlonXP 3200+ barton nforce2 board and use it as a video converting station and convert some of my older VHS's to digital videos out of the attic, should be perfect for that.

The Matrox is a dual head card.

A local? 😲 Yes, that's the place. Everything closing. They also have a AIW 9600 back in the VGA Isle somewhere. Just loose in the bin with all the other loose cards though so it probably doesn't work. This one was hanging in a plastic bag by the front so I'm thinking it's probably fine.

That's the question I always asked myself looking at every XR385 I came across...
