Yes! there are hubs with 8 RJ45 lan ports and "uplink" to a coaxial network. I have used them in the past and was a great solution (on a TCP/IP network).

Mind you, I have a vague idea that there were some other network devices that were very smiliar but were meant for a different porpouse.

Yeah, it's a Graphics Ultra... a 8514 chip and an ATi chip all one card, splitting the RAM between them, switching chips according to which mode requested. Found one in my stash the other day.

Interesting! I can always use more ISA video cards, I only have one other free ISA VGA card at the moment.

It came in a box for a completely different card made by a company called Swan Technologies that, based on an educated guess from an old low-res photo, used a Tseng Labs chipset.

Sure there is, you can use a hub, or just a transceiver from BNC to UTP, or (if the card has a DB15 AUI connection) AUI to UTP. The latter are much easier to find.

Got a CH Mach III joystick.
Needs a good clean and some testing.
This takes me back straightly straight to 1990. 😀

It's seen as slow for DOS, probably hot stuff in 1990, so 386DX is probably the right match. The 8514 has gui accelerator functions so theoretically better in OS/2 or windows than a non accelerated ISA card, some people call it "The first GPU"

Yeah, it might be better than the card in my 386DX right now so it might get a home quickly.

I got this mystery ISA video card as part of a $30 lot of much newer computers in various states of disrepair, any idea what it is? All I can discern is that it has an ATI chipset and the ROM is labeled "GRAPHICS ULTRA/A".

Yeah, it's an ATI Graphics Ultra, with a Mach 8 chipset. A VGA card introduced in 1991.

See my graphics card database at www.gpuzoo.com
Constantly being worked on. Feel free to message me with any corrections or details of cards you would like me to research and add.

How weird that the box it came in (the box for a completely different video card) is also dated 1991. Kinda blows up my "the card in the box was an upgrade" theory.

Maybe the ATI card came pre-installed and the upgraded to the card the box was from. Or maybe the ATI card just found a home in that box later on.

This is the correct box with the accessories of the ATI Graphics Ultra:

Whoo. That box looks quite modern, like something from the early 2000's...

Nice board!
Got a brand new "P4C800-E Deluxe" in box.
Wonder what the difference vs the "Gold" is?
If they included more bling in the box they did a good job fitting it, mine is bulging already =)

Edit: There's a suggestion that the "Gold" includes the InterVideo stuff, like "WinDVD".
And of.c. a much prettier box =)
Edit2: The -E means its a later board with Intel "CSA" Gigabit NIC.

I've seen that a lot, got burned a few times. The old part gets put away in the box the new part came in, whether it was dead or working. Bought a sealed (by thrift store) soundblaster box, had a game card in, bought a wireless card in box, had the old 10Mbit NIC in, bought a powercolor box (looked like it should have some variety of radeon) had a 6326 in.

OK thank you very much.
I will try to find one, it could be very useful having a collection of old PCs, sometimes transferring a lot of files is not easy, the fastest and most comfortable way I use is the IDE-CF adapter and a USB CF reader (for most PCs. modern)

"for a while"? Probably more like a decade. If this board works with all the corrosion around the battery I'll eat my hat.

Get that battery of there asap. Then soak the whole area in white vinegar for a few minutes, then rinse thoroughly with IPA. Then check what the damage it.

Hi, today I worked on the 386DX board, I did the oxide cleaning, after removing the battery and keyboard connector, apart from a couple of broken tracks to restore, the rest is in good condition.
I just have to decide whether to tin the copper tracks, and whether to replace or replace the keyboard connector.
When the job is done it should work, if so sorry about the hat. 😀
