Depends, for me music is a tool. I Listen to Cole Porter when I'm feeling down. I listen to electronic music when I need motivation. When I need to push through a very boring task I listen to military marches (I did this a lot in college).

I seldomly listen to music I really like in the way I did when I was younger, mostly because I can't work when I listen to too good music, it's fine in the car but I mostly listen to pod casts while driving.

Just waiting to pick up some dinner at my fav pizza and lasagna joint. They've got "Never Ending Story" blasting out of the jukebox. This makes me happy.

10 year-old me shed tears when I first saw ET die in 1987 . 20+ year-old shed tears watching Gandahar as well . Theses are just examples . IMHO, one is never too old to empathize with loss and suffering, whether fictional or true .
