The source of that games is checking files , exe's, and dll's directly and seeing that there is calls to these apis , so calls inside is present, need to check on real hardware.
So games probably can use API'S , there is sometimes situation when game can use API but it not advertised .

Edit: Descent II: The Infinite Abyss is also have s3 virge version, while i install it it asks to instl virge as additional option

powervrk.dll,powervrz.dll,ragek.dll,ragez.dll

1. ResidentEvil is only D3D on PowerVR? (there is a tool on the cd that let's me think that)

RaVeN-05 wrote on 2020-12-20, 23:34:

1. You need special version that supports PowerVR SGL API.

I've looked at both CDs as well. I could be mistaken that a lot of the files are the same. It's not like its a total rewrite of a game. Which leads me to believe it might be possible to transplant the powervr specific files into a regular game source and it could work. Similar to MW2 conversion.

Actua Ice Hockey 2 - maximum resolution is 1024x768 on my PCX1. Framerate is too low though, I would prefer 640x480.

Wow, looks really good! Unfortunately there is no PCI bus speed that fast enough for the PowerSGL 1024x768...

Some days ago I have retested ATI CIF version of the Actua Soccer: Semi-Finals 3D (IBM bundle) on all of my CIF compatible cards. Above all, although the game has a Win9x installer, the executable itself is a DOS one needs DOS or DOS mode (I have never seen a DOS ATi 3D CIF game or demo before). This game works only on Rage I and II chips ( I; II; II+; IIc). The game can start on 3D Rage PRO and Rage XL, but has serious errors. 3D Rage LT and Rage LT Pro cannot pass the hardware check, the game writes: "No hardware 3D support".

RaVeN-05, thank you for your recommendation.

At 16 bit, like the hockey game runs, transfering some 30 FPS shouldn't be a problem.

I played so much to NFS3 and I don't remember the game in Powervr. Can you see the engine of this game and check if the engine of NFS has a part for powervr?

Sorry, I not owner of PowerVR for many years. When I at last experiment with NFS3 with powervr command line parameter it ask for powervra.dll (which i dont know where to find). Many years later I find this .dll inside Future Cop : LAPD directory with .dll backends but now I don’t have PowerVR for experiments. 😀

It looks like Future Cop is using the same engine (THRASH) as NFS. So maybe with some hacking it would be possible to run NFS3 on a PowerVR.

I don't know, I won't be able to test it for the next month, but there's a demo of Future Cop and it contains .dlls for many APIs and cards (D3D, OpenGL, PowerVR, Rage, Verite and Voodoo). The same drivers can be found on the full game CD:

It's a previously unknown game, so haven't been checked out. I dont have the availability to check it atm, so if anyone else could confirm on an actual PowerVR card that would be great
