Pretty much as the title suggests, I bought an MPU-401 breakout box but I don't have an interface card for it. Will it work if I hook it up to the MIDI UART port of a sound card? I also have a MT-32 module. I know I can connect this directly to a sound card, but want to test the MPU-401.
Which breakout box did you buy? Can you post a pic?

You need the ISA interface card for it to be useful, the box alone won't do anything on its own.

Sadly no.

No you'll need that LoTech mif ipc clone card or a roland original and one of these unless you want to fry it.
