Recently I found this motherboard. It's fully functional but CPU socket broken. It's not possible to connect H/S. Since board not of a great value I decided to check is it possible to replace socket.
And actually it is possible! All you have to do is heat up board with IR-preheater. I used Gordak 853. Smells terrible but do the job.

Very nice! 😀 tedious delicate work. I did this on my tyan boards. (to add the second socket.)

you used a UV heater you say? any pics or info on it? do you mean IR?
I used a torch to harvest one of my sockets from a bad board 🤣. the rest, I bought on ebay new or harvested by someone else.

Yes, I do mean IR. Sorry for confusion. It's Gordak 853.
It's possible to replace AGP and PCI slots as well. I tried to replace SIMM72 couple of times but no luck. It's cheap model with huge temp gradient among working surface.
To replace AGP for example I needed to position it diagonally.

I wouldn´t call the old socket broken. The missing brackets don´t really matter, you could still use a socket 3 cooler that uses the larger brackets.
AGP, PCI, SIMM and SD-RAM slots can be easyly removed with a desoldering station, the solder must be removed anyway.

Infrared is perfect for reworking jobs or removing Socket 775/771, but soldering the replacements is a bit more difficult in this case.

I wouldn't call task that involves 66 desoldering and 66 soldering operations "easy" 😀 Ah! And another 66 desolderings to get a donor slot.
There are cons and pros in each method. I nave no experience with desoldering station. But i have $4 desoldering iron that have bad suction can easily damage metallization layer.

Of course you can use socket 3 coolers on socket 7. But if you have socket 370 board without brackets it's a problem. Once i had dual socket VIA 266T motherboard with same problem (on both sockets). Too shame but i sold it. If i would be more patient i could repair this board.

Another solution to the broken clip problem:

Re: Socket 5/7/SS7 (Voltage Interceptor) Tweaker. (Beta)

You will need the interstitial and LIF socket also though to clear the crank on the socket.

Or thermal epoxy

Good job on the fix, I have some spare sockets I thought about trying this. In the end I just decided to modify a heatsink to work instead of risking my Tyan Tomcat i815T S2080GN

So I wouldnt say you couldnt attach a cooler to it... just takes a bit of mod to the cooler.

socket 7 is good for replacement

socket 370 is difficult, since the pins are smaller and they break. I tried to remove the socket from a slocket and some broke
