I picked up an Ensoniq ES1370 based PCI sound card and it came with v2.0 of the driver CD. I found this thread looking around for info on the card and thought I'd share the freshly uploaded .iso image of the software/driver CD that came with the card.

It includes Win95, Win3.1x, DOS, and WinNT drivers/software.

I'm not sure if it is listed anywhere else - but for ES1371-based models with SPDIF capability, the cable expected is a mono 3.5mm headphone <> Single RCA. Info found in an HP doc.

If not covered I think the EMU10k1X cards would be those marketed as the "PCI512". These were sold for around £79 (then £49) I remember in the UK in the early 2000s, and they seem to be highly integrated / cost reduced SB Live! Value relatives. There are reports the the "full fat" SB Live! drivers work with them, however Creative also had PCI512-specific driver updates listed.

I've got a card listed at the "Creative SoundBlaster Digital 4.1" on its way - from pictures this seems to be the listed CT4750 card with a CT5880CQN chip on it - apparently with a SigmaTel codec, and according to some sources with an EEPROM. I'm aware that this card does the SP/DIF output for sure, and the box does list EAX which from an ES137x based chip seems a surprised.... I'm wondering if its a software thing, or whether the EEPROM holds some magic?

If you install the Ensoniq audioPCI 3.1 wizard through windows 3.1 it will install DOS drivers. If you keep that folder, you can install DOS 6.22 by it self, use this folder and setup autoexec.bat to load the .bat file in the folder and it will work. Make sure soundscape.ini is configured the way you want, and it will work fine.

Just been fighting a Creative CT4740 for hours - it's a Ensoniq 1373. Turns out the VEN_1274&DEV_1371 wasn't matching. I had Vendor ID of 1264 and 1234 depending on the PCI slot I put the card in! Eventually the third slot I tried it in gave me the correct vendor ID. Never had this problem before!

This is new to me also.
Seems confirmed by the data sheet which basically says the card can have different identities (Subsystem read/write)

Hello, I just created a thread to find working Win95/DOS drivers for a CT4810 until I saw this, I was getting the impression that these are difficult cards to deal with drivers wise.

As a beginner I was kind of confused by the OP's list, can anyone please point me out to the working driver files for it? Thank you in advance

Excellent informations! I have read them carefully...just in short:

- ES1373 never works in Dos on AladinChipset on my acer-board. Regardless plain dos or Doswindow within Win95.
- It gives me no error back but it simply does not work at all.
- Beside that ES1373 seems to be different than ES1371 because the OS/2 driver for the ES1371 dos not work for ES1373.
- Win95 and Amithlon works fine with ES1373 on this machine.

CT5803 with seems to be a 1373 and does work in sb-emu just fine.

CT4730 uses EV1938 so try this driver. This one is also applicable to EV1938 chip.

This is a OEM version that was used by Gateway 2000, amongst others. It has better AD/DA conversion than the standard models (see old Ensoniq website on Internet Archive.).

Also, I see you have it listed as using a ES1371 chip, but mine uses the ES1370 chip.

Got mine bundled with a Quantex P2-400 (based on a Biostar MB, probably M6TBA) in 1999. It worked well with an internal modem (Digitan Systems DS560-552) so I could talk over landline using my computer headset. Later replaced by Live! Platinum but the card is still in good condition. It uses ES1371 chip.

The manual called it "AudioPCI 64V" but as an early version it had joystick gameport, which got removed in the later revision with EV1938 chip (I really dislike Creative "recycling" model names).

Interesting. Do you have any pictures of one of these cards without the gameport? I can't find any online right now and I have never seen an AudioPCI variant without a game port myself, either in person or for sale\in pictures, etc. Maybe they were available exclusively in eastern markets?

I've said it before, but it never ceases to amaze me just how many variants of some mainstream sound cards were produced back in the day. The Sound Blaster 16, Pro Audio Spectrum 16, Jazz 16, Ensoniq\Creative AudioPCI and some others have so many variations (within the same brand\manufacturer) that they are still turning up in pictures for the first time 25-30 years later.

Thank you for verifying that these are rare, I was thinking that I had never seen an EV1938 either, even though I have seen hundreds of AudioPCI cards over the years.

If I ever found one of those super cheap looking cards like the one you linked to, I would add it to my collection for sure! It certainly wouldn't take up much space... 🤣

Also, I will attach the picture here for posterity, since it seems like the only picture of such a card on the internet. If there are more "official" Creative variants of the EV1938 out there, I'd love to see one.

Whelp, I stumbled upon a CT5306 AudioPCI today and it made me realize that I have in fact seen these before... it just never registered in my mind that they were lacking a gameport.

If you check on ebay, there are actually a few CT5306 for sale right now, and probably more that just aren't labeled.

It seems this model has the Creative ES1373 chip though, not the EV1938 discussed earlier.
