it is 99.5% solder cracks on the connectors
it's an easy fix that does not require a huge solder experience, basically with the board removed you flip it over , introduce the solder iron to the big solder joints of the connectors, heat it up and maybe add a small amount of fresh solder... and that's it 😀

+1 to this, as well as the very probable diagnosis ..

Back in the day, I was happy with AMD 486DX 40 overclocked to 50 on an VLB board for about 2 years, and next year I got Pentium 100 machine. This why was I skipped DX2 and DX4 era, eventually got PII 350 machine.
Today, I received 486DX4 100 CPU. I already gotten a metal clip on heatsink for it. Metal clip on heatsinks is incredibly hard to find but this comes from experience with plastic clips in general f0r any processors being a issue.

Even intel back in the day when P4 was so new, intel had trouble with white lever locks breaking if you put or take off. Made awful sound of locking on or off, grind/crunch.

Got lucky at the flea market this past couple of months so I tought I'd share some of my findings.

386 motherboard with L2 cache and an AMD 386-DX40 sitting on some kind of interposer - untested, but looks like it's all there, and I can't see any corrosion. No barrel battery witch is a plus, but on the other hand it's using a Dallas RTC witch I am not fond of.

These 3 are all VIA 82C694T Pentium III Tualatin motherboards with an ISA slot. I've been hunting boards like these for hybrid DOS/Win9x builds. All of them tested fine, but they all had bad caps. The Epox and MSI got fresh 1500uf 6.3v caps. Both had 3-4 bloated capacitors, all 1500uf, but I replaced all 1500uf caps on these boards just to be safe. The Trancend on the other hand has loads of bloted caps, over 6 1000uf and 3 or 4 1500uf caps. It posts, but I won't do any extensive testing on her until I can order new capacitors. The MSI has pretty decent overclocking options, I was able to run one of my 1200MHz Celeron Tualatin chips at 1600MHz (12x133 / 1.6v) stable. The Epox was a really nice surprise since it FULLY supports the VIA C3 Nemiah. I even got new bios options when running the C3, like "C3 Multiplier Selection". The MSI and Trancend motherboards did not come with a northbridge heatsink, witch is odd since the 694T gets pretty hot when running a Pentium 3-S (measured 67C with an IR thermometer) - so I added a heatsink on the MSI and plan to add one to the Trancend after recapping.

A couple of creative sound cards (SB16 and an AWE64 value), a couple of ESS sound cards and a Radeon 8500 AIW.

At this point it seems luck avoids me, the oldest board I could score were a MSI K8T Neo + a artefacting NX6600GT.

The oldest chip I could get was a Deschutes 266 w/ AVID fan and thermal sensor though, so that's a neat thing to find.

That MSI board will cook that audio chip (VT1612 IIRC). The schematic is available at elektrotanya.com.
The supply voltage is 5V, when that audio chip can take 3,3V. I modded my board. Found 3,3V somewhere near the AGP slot and removed one inductor from the 5V feed to cut it.

Lady luck can be a fickle mistress... I got this haul recently, along with 3 more or less complete PCs (one IBM Netvista P4 and two beige box PCs with desktop form factor standard ATX cases) and a laptop (this happened in the past couple of months) but before that - dry. Nothing of interest. Only newer hardware I was not particularly interested in.

This pic didn't fit in the other post - 5 picture limit and all. Finally got a hold of a geforce 256 DDR. The tiny blue video card is a Gigabyte Riva TNT2 PRO. An odd little board, it has a jumper that allows the user to choose it the card runs at standard mode or OC mode. The hercules card is a Kyro II. They make for fairly decent geforce 2 pro replacements.

Thanks for letting me know. I don't plan on ever using on board sound - that's what the ISA slot is for. Might as well remove the chip complexly or lift the leg that provides power to it off the board.

At least the ones where I live in get more scarce by each Sunday. I swear, I barely see any boards at all. Just a whole sea of laptops ranging between Core 2 Duo and 2nd or 3rd gen Cores.

It's not uncommon to find cracked solder joints in these old synthesizers. There is a lot of stress being put onto these ports.

Bought my first Mac today, an eMac. I hate the mouse already. Lol.

I don't know much about Macs, but I had been thinking of getting one for the science and educational software. Seems like they have a lot of stuff that isn't available on PC. This one has a PPC under the hood and is basically a hefty CRT, so it's retro enough for me.

No, it's just the CPU. Fairly common, I've seen lots sold. May even have a couple somewhere.

Some serial and PS2 mice.

The green ones are funny stuff. I looked up for the brand and it turns up it's a freebie for MDs.
They actually are of good quality and inside it's solid, not those low weight budget ones.

For me, a 2-button mouse is must NOT have.
Most amusing is the fact that the Minesweeper game shipped with Windows... pretty much requires a 3-button mouse 🤣
Well, it's possible to play it with just 2 buttons, but very inconvenient.

I stopped by the computer store since i was in the neighborhood. For fifteen dollars: an Audigy 1, an SB Live (but it's an SB0200) and a Quadro FX500. All three work, but the Live is pretty useless, and I don't have much use for the Quadro. But I'll find a place for the Audigy. I knew there was an SB Live that you had to look out for, but I thought I had an SB0200 that worked fine; I actually have an SB0220. I should have done a search on my phone, but so it goes.
