That's very weird - even my old 386 runs optical mice with a PS2 plug. Shuttle aren't exactly known for their quaility hardware though - they were always a bit of a dodgy brand.

Maybe a bios update is in order? I owned a Shuttle mobo once and I updated its bios several times.

I did a flash update to the latest version, now there is no "mouse support" option in BIOS... and connecting a mouse to the "ps2 mouseport" mow produces a keyboard error on boot...

Well, time to downgrade BIOS I guess. Just reflash with an older appropiate version.

I don't see a point in downgrading... the ps2 mouse never worked with this mobo... at least now it is kind enough to inform on boot that there is a kb problem 🤣
I wonder though what will happen if I find and install an AMIKEY-2 chip on the empty socket...

Well, if you are not having problems, leave bios as is.

I tried wiring one of those up once. You might want to double-check the pin assignments. (It seems to me like it ought to be possible to get it to work if you can get it to do anything at all.)

yeah, I found the 4 active pins of the "mouseport" but there is no way to work... my mobo does not have the amikey-2 chip, so there is no real ps2 mouse support..
