I picked up this card for the VGAmuseum but I have no idea what chipset the thing uses. It is a DOME Medical Imaging (at the time of manufacture it was subsidiary of Planar) card and that is all I know about it.

I don't think I can get the heat sink off without damage--it is glued on real well. I might have already damaged it.

I am going to get my PCIX machine up and going today--I hope--so I can pull some stats. What should I run other than lspci?

A little wayback search found this is part of the Planar Dome CX series. Cannot DL the DX2 driver w/o login (card edge has 10-DX2-01 so figure it a DX2 card)
http://web.archive.org/web/20051031194530/htt … al_drivers.html
added: maybe one of the drivers listed half down page "download now" may give some clues....
and this: http://web.archive.org/web/20060111030212/htt … /Dome/Dome.html
but this .pdf gives some limited info but does say what those lil dip switches are for...
http://web.archive.org/web/20081116202433/htt … 1A-quickref.pdf
will dig around a bit more later...have bunch chores to do

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun

Thanks I couldn't figure it out since the card is part of the system, but it seems to be a DX2 controller card. Let's see if I can get VGA.

That Xilinx FPGA looks suspiciously like it's acting as PCI-PCI bridge, I'd suspect there are actually two GPUs under the big heatsink, each with their own RAM (four chips). I'd guess they'd be something like FX5200s looking at the rest of the card.

Alternately, it's an AGP or PCIe to 64b PCI/PCI-X bridge, in which case it will be just a single GPU.

But lspci sounds like a good start.

My PCIX board has the dreaded code FF so I won't be able to test it but I did get the heatsink off.

It is a Xilinx Spartan XC2S600E and there are 8 × 16MB modules of DDR SDRAM for 128 MB.

I'll put it on the VGAmuseum with this information in the coming days.

Thanks all.

>Card for medical use in radiology

"DX board to support the DOME C3™ or C5™ digital flat-panel display"
"Dome medical imaging display systems... by NDS Surgical Imaging"
"10-bit capability"

Yay I guessed correctly 😀
https://web.archive.org/web/20030316212227/ht … ci/DXPCI-01.pdf must be for older system, its dated 2000 and only talks about 8bit palettes and 256 colors
Those ones https://www.manualslib.com/products/Planar-Dx … ci-1994559.html https://www.manualslib.com/manual/311095/Plan … ?page=15#manual mention 10bit grayscale mode for Xray inspection.
