ASTRA works well on any PC compatible hardware (from 8086/8088 to the latest Intel Core or AMD Ryzen processors)

This program performs computer configuration analysis and diagnostics. It gives detailed information about your computer hardware and devices operational modes, including undocumented information. A unique quick HDD Health Status checker is included. It provides information on CPU, motherboard, hard disks, S.M.A.R.T., CD/DVD devices, SCSI devices, memory modules, chipset, BIOS, PCI/AGP, ISA/PnP and PnP devices, monitor, video card, sound card, network card, printer, etc. This program also creates a report file in plain text, INI, HTML, XML and CSV format, and is able to run in batch mode.

Bootable ISO and floppy images are also available.

This program FREE for non-commercial purposes.

Thanks so much friend, it's nice that these old software are still used and updated now.
For my part, I have several PCs in my collection, unfortunately the older ones have some problems to solve, I can try running it on the PCs I have on the bench, some are not that old, but if it can be useful to you, I'll try it.

Here the report

The attachment ASTRA.RPT.zip is no longer available

.

1 - If I execute Astra on my QEMM configuration, it crash. It seam to try to execute something normally in the system ROM. QEMM stealth mode relocate the BIOS somewhere else in memory to convert most of the F000->FFFF into UMB. See this screenshot for details :

The attachment crash.png is no longer available

- Other test only with himem.sys -

2 - CPU is properly identified but the frequency is incorrect, it should be around 120Mhz (40 x 3), not 62.4Mhz

3 - CPU Cache is 16KB L1, 256KB L2

4 - Sound card brand is partially identified. But model and capacity are wrong
It is a MediaVision Pro AudioSpectrum 16
It say "Sound Card Type: Sound Blaster 1.0/1.5". It is indeed compatible with that but it's much more capable when used in pro audiospectrum 16 mode
Playback Quality should be Stereo 16-bits 44100Hz
It have, indeed, an OPL3 for FM.

Seam to be all for the comments / bug report!

ASTRA only checks playback quality in Sound Blaster compatible mode.
Unfortunately I don't have Pro Audiospectrum 16 to add support for native modes.

Please send any reports. This will help in development.

I will start by downloading it, from my Internet PC, a 3.6 GHz fourth generation HP i3, then I can put it in a CF with DOS 6.X, which I use on all the old PCs, when I am on the bench.
Unfortunately in this period, I am very busy, if I can this weekend, I will start a P3 600/133, and send you a file.

Nice! It is so far the only utility that identifies all four sound cards installed on my retro computer. 😁

One feedback though: The VIA C3 Nehemiah CPU that I have mounted on a Socket 370 slotket adapter gets identified as Antaur.

I have 4x interesting processors, and one interesting BIOS...

It detected a bunch of weird stuff on my 286 (SATA controller, etc.) but not the ESS1868 sound card. It detected 16 CPUs on my 486. Other than that, I will note that I have a mobile Athlon XP plugged into a board (Biostar M7VIP-pro) which does not support mobile CPUs, hence why the BIOS reports it as "Mobile Athlon 4" and boots at 1GHz. The (actual) voltage is also stuck at 1.6V AFAIK, because the board can't go lower than that. The A770-A2+ board also does not officially support Athlon II X2 280 (but it has a BIOS with patched AGESA).

Is it really AXMH2000FQQ3C?
