I suggest giving it a thorough wash and new paste first though.

ran 3dmark flawlessly. i will replace paste and pads before doing more stability tests.

I got one because I was curious about the performance and of the third memory IC.

Modern 1998-99 production year. BIOS (Post and setup) is in 640x480 square even on a widescreen LCD.

Ran some tests. It's not good for DOS games/overclocking...

It's the same as a CL-5429 up to 11Mhz ISA bus. Does not like to go any faster.

Should be fine in windows though. Does hardware bitblt, hardware cursor, etc.

Well I'm reading that statement as "Isn't the fastest for games that leverage maximum 2D speed like Doom and Quake, but is fine for everything else." Which is pretty normal for anything you can put in an ISA slot, versus VLB or PCI options.

I feel like I have the opposite experience way to often. When I buy a "Tested good" or "Used Pulled from working system" item from ebay there is like a 66% chance it doesn't work 😠

After being stung by two dead Banshees (Gainward and 3D Blaster), I went ahead and bought a Medion branded TNT2 Pro. According to the PCB and a website I found, it might unlock into Ultra speeds.

At least you stand a good chance of repairing a banshee, the TnT2 ...possibly depending on how good you are and have a steady hand and can figure out what broke.

I will say that the TnT2 cards are pretty damn solid cards and I haven't seen too many of them DOA so they do have that going for them and a Pro that can unlock would be a cool card to own.

Happens here as well. I think when they list an item as used the sellers know ebay is gonna rip em a new one if it doesn't, so I generally believe them when they say the item worked for them.
But they are dumb because they rarely care to make a good package, not realizing how important it is and it's their fault if it's not good.
They expect that the delivery service is going to be super careful with their packages. They probably never watched fail videos on youtube.
They literally throw the packages to your door. I don't blame them. It's a shitty job, they are always in a rush, they work in horrible conditions.

The other 295 with dual PCB I got recently is basically a brick. It has like 1kg of mass and requires a lot of padding.
If it worked before I don't know, but if you ship it without padding it certainly won't survive the trip.
It arrived with all the PCI bracket bent and had indentations on the shroud near the corners.
One of the PCBs is like a banana now because the shroud keeps it bent that way...

They do get warm, but no signs of veing detected by BIOS whatsoever. The card is totally absent from any BIOS listing.
I have thoroughly inspected the board and none of the resistors or beads are broken.

Worth attempting to flash it.
Flash memory degrades over time, it might be blank by now.
My understanding is that the bios itself should still be detectable by the flashing tool though.

Voodoo 1 and 2 don't have a bios. They're simpler than banshee, v3+
There are several vids on yt of v3s being revived with a flash.

Got another ECS p6s5at today, This one has a small bit of damage to the AGP slot but the board has been tested ...not that I fully believe that. Board will get a full test when it arrives, Tualatin and DDR support makes for a fun little board to OC with.

I have a PCChips M700 version of this board so itll be good to have a backup for it, they are rather scarce boards.

That's a very unusual placement for IDE/Floppy connectors. Plenty of room around them.

They're not detected by the BIOS at all. Even with a PCI card they do not show up at all during the Award BIOS device listing.

Yes. I understood.

That can happen when the flash is empty.
The flash is where the vendor and device id is stored and reported to the main bios on boot.
No ven/dev =no pnp =no detect

Write down the makings on the chip.
Use a second card for video.
Try the flash program.
See if it detects.
If it does, flash it and see.

What have you got to lose?

I'll try it this evening. I have an slightly older board than what I initially used (DFI CS32-TC + VIA C3 800A) that just came in today (MSI K7 Pro + Pluto 700MHz Athlon) and may check if that one works.

EDIT: Tried and none work. Both flash utilities for Creative and Gainward (the latter being just standard 3dfx flash utility) report no Banshee cards present.
