Goddammit, I totally forgot about that one. Well...seems like I still need to complete my collection 😁
(I barely used it during my youth, unlike all of the other operating systems, that's why it must've slipped my mind).
If I pursue that, I do want to get 3.11, though.
Sorry 😅

A word of warning:
Have an eye on real Vcore if you happen to change it in the BIOS.
I remember it behaving a bit "odd" i.e. not what you would think it to be. Depended on the type of cpu used iirc, coppermine/tually, but was definitely not correct.
We don't want any 1400 end up grilled do we...Edit: note to myself: check own board for those patches on the cpu socket. Maybe these make for some difference in this vcore thing...
Thanks for the heads up. I don’t have any plans for overclocking, especially for hardware I can’t easily replace.
What a week.

It's very possible none of them works though 😁 I got them for very cheap and they are in terrible shape

Well in the last few days, I had the time to dedicate myself to a PCCHIPS M550, coincidentally also on YouTube in the "Necroware and Tony359" channels, there are videos on the S.7 topic, it's true we talk about some cards, but they I found it interesting, coming back to me, the M550 had a behavior that made me think of a problem with the BIOS, among various difficulties I managed to recover it, I'm currently doing some benching at a reduced frequency (133 MHz instead of 166), but the final goal is to go more or less at 400 MHz, with a 2.2V AMD K6-2 CPU, even if the minimum voltage of this MB is 2.5V, so a little more than what would be necessary, I don't know if there is a simple way to reduce the voltage, without the use of an intermediate socket like upgradeware or similar.
AMD 286-16 287-10 4MB HD 45MB VGA 256KB
AMD 386DX-40 Intel 387 8MB HD 81MB VGA 256KB
Cyrix 486DLC-40 IIT387-40 8MB VGA 512KB
AMD 5X86-133 16MB VGA VLB CL5428 2MB and many others
AMD K62+ 550 SOYO 5EMA+ and many others
AST Pentium Pro 200 MHz L2 256KB
Might be possible.
It has jumpers for voltage.
https://theretroweb.com/motherboards/s/pcchips-m550#docs pg 5.
2 possible approaches.
1) correlate the jumpers to the VID pins on the CPUs. They might be a 1:1 mapping and thus undocumented voltages should appear.
2) suck it and see. Find a test point that reliably shows vcore on a multimeter. Pull the CPU and ram. Turn on, confirm voltage still 2.5. Try all the undocumented combinations.
But tbh, 10%higher voltage isn't really a concern

Re: The thing no one asked for: KICAD 440bx reference schematic
I haven't bought much recently. On today's vintage market I found this and took a 2€ gamble.
The seller had an OEM socket 370 universal AGP motherboard. In that case it was more than likely dead. I couldn't pry off the CPU cooler. If I could verify it having a high-end Tualatin-S, I'd also took a gamble on that. I have decent luck with expansion cards on this market. It's rare to find something interesting, but when I do, they are dirt cheap and generally work.

Yup, ASUS V3800/32M not a bad Ultra card.
Today's scores:
- Premier LC-C400ATX PSU - long time since I last dealt with these 🤣
- ASUS P5GD1-VM w/ P4 and badcaps (Lelon)
- Asrock K8NF6G-VSTA
- Matsonic MS8308EP(266) + Duron 1100
- PCChips M825G + Athlon T-Bird 850
- 40GB Excelstor Europa, aka Hitachi Deskstar 180GXP (nice)
- 40GB WD Caviar
- 80GB Maxtor Diamondmax Plus9
- 500GB Hitachi Deskstar
- 128MB SDRAM by TMC

Looks like a TNT Standard with the 7ns ram I believe even a "pro" should have 6ns, Love the asus brand build though, looks great!

I don't know if it's actually an ultra. Different sources say different things. It certainly has a lot of stuff missing from the PCB, but it seems to match this aside of the RAM:
from the VGA museum, but mine is missing all the ultra markings from the sticker on the VGA connector and the GPU. Otherwise different sources suggest different things from the standard TNT2 through Pro all the way up to Ultra. ASUS had a very confusing naming scheme back then. I got it believing it's a standard TNT2 so it would be a pleasant surprise if it turns out to be an ultra, but probably not. I'll se when/if it turns on. Probably the day after tomorrow or next weekend.
Still, my other TNT2 colcks at 125/125 so having one on 125/150 is still an upgrade.
Edit: This is also very similar, still a standard TNT2:

Yah, I hate it, every time I have to figure out an ASUS TnT or GF2 card, or see one for sale, lots of M64s getting passed off as GTS/Ultra/GF2 as well, and you really gotta zoom in on PCB.

The bios sticker says ,V38T1 should be a standard clock TNT2. Also if there is a back sticker that says "C1AV85" you know that's the case. Overclock though!! 😁

Bought this Asrock P4i45E motherboard. Smaller capacitors need replacing. I love early P4 motherboards. This would be an interesting Windows 98 build.
Got a small haul of stuff at scrap price, kinda modern but some of it's 15 years old and not getting any younger. Didn't snap a pic since it didn't seem tooooo interesting. Two GPU, NVS 290, Asus HD4650 1Gb, PCIe, both low profile boards, so another couple to try in the Dell Apoplexy, I mean Optiplex, that is super picky. Do the Quadros implement PhysX? Because if it's not wanted in the dull, I might be sticking that NVS in things just for physx. (Tested previously with 9400GT PCI, 4x gain over CPU only)
CPUs, 3 of, i7-860 s1156, FX-8120, A6-6400. Pleased with those, don't look abused, realllly hoping the i7 works to swap out with the i3 in that box I got last week. FX-8120 and A6 I don't have seats for at the moment, though gonna check again since I thought I saw an AM3 FM2 board lot on offer. I wasn't wanting to get "into" FM2 and hafta find a CPU..buuuuut...
Desktop RAM: 8pcs 1GB DDR2, 1 pc 2GB DDR2... yeah bit disappointing, still still still low on 2GB DDR2 and I thought there was more of it in here. However, fast chips tight timing on one set of four 1GBs so maybe that might do something interesting for me.
SODIMM: 6pcs 2GB DDR3, 3pcs 1GB DDR2.... heh, why did I get this... though kinda wondering about putting some of the DDR2 chips on a desktop module, higher density.
All untested, but cosmetically good, all in about Bic Mac meal price for the lot, so I'll figure I got an okay deal if a couple of the 5 best things work. Actually if only the i7 works I'll consider that it payed off.
