So i decided to install reshade now to see how it is with the games
Both MercsD3D and MW2 3dfx works greatly, but Ghost Bear Legacy has a strange issue which is more related to dgvoodoo2 on which the screen flickers and loses color depth, and later works fine through some meshes becomes invisible, menu also has this strange scaling issue where it also flickers and the screen goes black and you see only minimized, i tested it later with cnc-ddraw and i found that the game works but the moment you quit a mission or completes it, the game crashes.

it would be nice if dege could investigate this issue with ddraw.dll compatibility because its happening without reshade's own dxgi.dll.

Also on a note, i decided to test the battlepack edition of GBL and it didn't work accusing missing files, later i got a virtual machine and patched it to 1.05 and it didnt work either because even with the cd or image on the tray it claims that the cd isn't there.

I think the screen flickering isn't related to dgVoodoo2. Can you check this: play a mission, exit it and then reenter, and see if the flickering happens?

The flickering is now fixed, i'll post both conf files at the dgvoodoo thread, the issue now is just the meshes becoming invisible and 3d mercs audio and not recognizing the ripped audio even with the most up to date version of winmm ogg.

Fixed when entering the mission the second time? If that's the case, please let me know, because that's not related to dgVoodoo2 most probably and he'll get confused.

Do this: go to DxWnd configuration, DirectX tab and set DirectX version hooking to None. In that way, using dgVoodoo2 won't flicker. But probably this will remove the ability to run the game without dgVoodoo2 at all

Can you explain me what are your motives for Battlepack GBL? I am not clear on what you want to do and some things are "barred" from being done, for example, recognising the ripped audio on winmm ogg. Since DxWnd is the most up-to-date and variant winmm wrapper so it's set to use IOCTL right now

Also I am not sure what things you are reporting to Dege, he should be checking only the graphics part if dgVoodoo2 can make a difference.

Battlepack is pretty much a "Semi-3dfx" release outside titanium, and unfortunately titanium is titanium and i wanted to try battlepack, but it seems of limits.
as for GBL i dealt with the issue, but now the music isn't working at all, and i am trying to remember what i did to make it work before with winmm ogg.

CD music must come from the first CD by letter.

How's it going?
Any things to add to the installer?

Maybe double CD drives?
Well technically DxWnd probably overtakes any winmm emulator if it exists

Thank you for doing so much to get this game up and running again! I've been having fun playing the DOS version of MERCS but would love to get the dynamic salvage thing going now. I believe I have a CD copy of the Win 95/Pentium version and if I understand correctly that one is troublesome. Don't know if anyone could has gotten it running but here is where I am with it using the all-in-one installer method.

-I receive the following error when using the installer:

copy-item : Cannot find path 'D:\WAV\' because it does not exist.
At C:\Users\Family\Downloads\mw2Installer\mw2Installer.ps1:455 char:10
+ copy-item -path "$CDDRIVE\$folder\" -destination "$InstallPa ...
+ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
+ CategoryInfo : ObjectNotFound: (D:\WAV\:String) [Copy-Item], ItemNotFoundException
+ FullyQualifiedErrorId : PathNotFound,Microsoft.PowerShell.Commands.CopyItemCommand

-Despite the missing path, installation completes. Game runs fine but missions do not launch.

-I now attempt to install the 1.1 patch by running "mpatch.exe", it seems to work but I do receive error: "winlNet.dll Redistribution Package "Installation Failed"". Cannot install the 3D enhancements either.

-After installing the 1.1 patch missions now launch (yay!) but I receive multiple instances of: "dp dll error: bug negative threads".

I'm not great with this stuff, but I'm determined to get this going.

Its from myne's installer, it may be that your CD has some differences. You may even consider putting the CD folders parallely over the installed game folders and files just to make sure things are in place.

Copy dplayx.dll to the game folder and rename it to dplay.dll. Copy it from Windows/SysWOW64 or Windows/System32 depending on whether you use x64 or x86

It is supposed to work anyways. Let me know if you still have the issues after you are done trying

If you're after dynamic salvage, you need Titanium.

That error is minor. It's just trying to copy a folder that isn't in that particular edition.
I haven't tested all the variants.

Get Titanium and see how it goes

I really should figure out some logging

Looked hopeful so I thought I'd give this Mech2 installer 'fix' a try but no joy.
What exact version of MW2 31st 3dfx does one need?
On Win10 I'm trying to install the MW2 31st 3dfx version. I don't even have a Q: drive.
The script does not find either 3dfx mounted images I have properly, it shows:

Looks possibly like a bug with the 2 drives and the detection.
Or you're unlucky and managed to pick 5 of the editions I haven't seen yet.

Are both drives virtual?
Same results with just d: enabled?

If that doesn't work, try manually editing the big switch statement in the script. It's got a fair few comments so it shouldn't be too hard if you're switched on.

Since you are on Windows 10, you can directly try running the setup.exe to install the game. Let me know if you are interested

I've got the game (MW2 mercenaries Titanium trilogy) running almost perfect thanks to the MW2 installer. The only things that are missing is that the music does not play (even with the CD with audio tracks in the drive) and there appears to be a memory leak.

w7w6cwer3jy.png

Basically the game's memory usage will continue to rise until it hits about 1.6 GB if you haven't put in a 4GB patch. Or it hits 3.6 GB if you have put in a 4GB patch. You'll know that the memory leak has completed when the HUD dies and multiple enemies disappear from the map.

You can rip the CD audio in ogg format, in the following names "track02.ogg", "track03.ogg"... "trackmn.ogg", starting with 02, and put the files in a "Music" folder beside the game folder. Subsequently, change the DxWnd configuration for the game in the "Cdaudio" tab from "Play from CD" to "Use audio files".

The memory leak is a real issue, if you are on Windows 10, you can try your luck enabling shim:EmulateHeap in the "Tweaks" tab of DxWnd or alternatively patch:HeapLeak or patch:SafeHeap.

If neither of it works, you can try the "MechVM" installation of the game, that will only use DxWnd to fix the initial mission crash and all other fixes will be from MechVM

Well I have no clue how this works (I have no understanding or experience with this stuff) but I got just about everything working now. All I did was download the most recent version of dxwnd and extracted the files over the dxwnd in game directory (apparently earlier Dxwnd versions had a memory leak problem and the one in the game folder from MW2installer is version 2.06.01.rc1 while the latest is just 2.06.06). This makes the shortcut not run the game immediately but it does startup Dxwnd and then you can launch the game and it has just about everything working from cd audio (I tried the music folder and the .ogg but it didn't work) and even got a mixed cd of the titanium edition with the DOS versions music (the dos version has the full soundtracks while the titanium edition loses about 60 seconds per track).

Only thing I noticed and this might just be a memory thing but at the start of the first solaris mission you fall through the floor and have to walk to the center to get out of the floor. Also collision seems to be majorly enhanced and sometimes when bumping into an enemy or an enemy bumps you, the collision causes whoever was bumped into to go flying quite a bit.

Yes this is my issue also.... the memory leak... it makes my game crashes. So how to mitigate this?

Forgot to mention, updating the Dxwnd seems to have removed the memory leak issue as well. Mem seems to cap out at about 2688MB.

How do you update Dxwnd without messing with previous settings for MechWarrior 2 3DFX?

NVM it was working great yesterday but now everytime I try to go through the game's menus I get a fatal error that says "out of memory at 186 in D\:Titanium\code\database.cpp" which isn't even where I installed the game so IDK what is happening now.

I started having memory leak during mission called "Defend on Mannedorf" of the Ghost Bear's Legacy Titanium Edition. It was a second mission in the campaign. The HUD will begin to dissapear and you can't see any other Mechs in the game during the last stage of the mission. I found out that this problem also manifest on MechWarrior 2 Mercenaries Titanium Edition too in some missions.

And there is no option for shim:EmulateHeap or patch:HeapLeak or patch:SafeHeap in the "Tweaks" tab of my DxWnd.

BTW my specs are:

Windows 8.1
RAM 8GB
Intel HD Graphics
Intel Celeron N2840 2.16Ghz 2 cores
