I haven't got the time to test GBL for ChromeReaperX either. Anyways...

The game working fine after aborting a mission could be a sign of where to look. If you read some of the previous discussions on this thread, you will get comments on the game flickering unless the game is Aborted and re-run.

What I assume is, DxWnd isn't correctly hooking the game interface on the first run in mission. The mission window is a separate DirectDraw hWnd, forced to skip the DDSCL_EXCLUSIVE flag but keeping the game contactless from other apps through a modal window (which fails on the first run). On the Abort -> Replay Mission the Modal window was drawn correctly, and simultaneously your game doesn't get a memory leak.

You can continue to run the game in this fashion, and if the leak no longer happens, I think we found the issue

Ok I will try and test what you said. Start a mission then abort, after that, restart it back, right?

yes

Ok the result is negative... still the same. I've tested several times. Aborted the mission without exiting the game then re-enter the mission, and aborted the mission with exiting the game altogether.

I've installed successfully with the Easy Installation tool. I'm playing Mercs Titanium for dynamic salvage.

Everything runs well, but after an extended time in a mission I lose assets and sound. If I alt+tab, I get an in-game noticfication saying "Memory Low" and the assets drop again if I resume game.

Any way to fix this?

Thank you!

Now I'm getting this error when starting through the Easy Installer Link.

Heyo! I'm interested in using your guide (namely via the all-in-one installer), but there's a problem...the installer only tries to look in the physical disc drive. There's no way to point it towards a virtual disc drive, which is a bummer.

Also hi! Just a note, you don't need Titanium Mercs for dynamic salvage; the 1.1 patch for Mercs 95 is largely the same, including that.

This my friend is what we called a MEMORY LEAK and this is also what I've experienced when playing the game. So far no fix for this. I hope there will be one soon.

I got Mercs 95 running with a manual install and moving DXWind files into the install folder. Even patched it for Dynamic Salvage.

Game runs really well, but after completing mission and clicking the "NEXT MISSION" or "STARPORT" button freezes my game.

Any ideas?

If you can save the game and re-run it, that would be the choice for now. The heap issue is yet to be investigated in Mercs, but the person in charge of it doens't have the necessary system right now.

Thank you, this works!

I'm getting some DLL bug that happens on some missions. Have to resort to completing mission and using the Complete Mission cheat to bypass error. It happened on the Rising Sun POW mission, Medical Facility Terror Attack and a few others. I ran the mission fix script as well. Any ideas?

This is (was) a Activision engine bug. It happens in other games like Heavy Gear 1 as well.

By any chance, are you running Battlepack (or SW rendered Titanium) since that's only where I got this error.

As additional information. I get the error everytime I try to run Dxwnd and launch the mercswin.exe. It doesn't seem to matter what version of Dxwnd is used.

Try running the game without DxWnd and let me know if you get a 0xc000005 error

Yes that's what I meant. This is an error, which comes from what's on your computer and not the game. Previously, some game gave me this error upon having the Logitech Control Panel, since which I never had the issue. Unfortunately I can't control or comment on what error is causing this

I have no clue. I haven't installed anything new. Only thing that's happened is windows updates

I think someone has to figure out dxwnd properly.
I'm puzzled because I played it through a year ago without these issues.

Windows break something?

I built:
Convert old ASUS ASC boardviews to KICAD PCB!
Re: A comprehensive guide to install and play MechWarrior 2 on new versions on Windows.
Dos+Windows 3.11+tcp+vbe_svga auto-install iso template
Script to backup Win9x\ME drivers from a working install

There is a very little I can control from Windows updates, since it is not reproducible either. Another user here tried MechVM to launch the game in the same fashion, but failed

Its not a dxwnd bug if the error isn't coming from here.
