I'm trying to get this to run on one of my machines but it sits at "Reading MSR Registers" and does nothing. If I use the /nMSR parameter then I can run the software.

Thank you for the report.
Fixed in the latest beta version.

I've attached a couple of report files. I also noticed on the main system info screen the 2D card info is mixed in with the Voodoo card

Fixed

zuldan wrote on 2024-09-28, 02:54:

I'm also wondering if it's possible for the software to show the 28MB of memory on the AWE64 Gold card?

ASTRA should detect memory size on AWE64. The sound card should be initialized properly (for example by Unisound).

Confirmed on that beta that all of my Virge GX2 cards now show the correct clock speeds. The Voodoo Rush is now shown as AT3D + Voodoo Rush, however the program is still hard locking when generating a report with the Rush installed.

I'm working on a PCCHIPS M550, and I loaded it on a CF Astra 7.10 memory card, the software with an Intel Pentium MMX 233 works, changing CPU with an AMD K6 233, instead it crashes (see screen), I don't know if the problem is due to some storage problem, but I don't think so.

Thank you for this tool and for being free for hobbyists. The amount of details it produces is amazing, I haven't seen it elsewhere.

Now that the BIOS ID is used for mainboard detection, you could also evaluate the BIOS ID completely, since it consists of several parts, all of which are documented. Do you have plans in this direction?

Hello, I tried Astra on this motherboard: https://www.ecs.com.tw/he/Product/Motherboard … s/specification

I don't know if it's right but on Audio Codec Name, it says Unknown (00000000h:0002h), the codec is the ac'97 and the chip is C-Media CMI9738.
Here is the compressed report.

It's a very useful utility, thank you for you work!

This was done in 2000.

I have a PC on the bench with MB Olidata OLI-BX and P2 400 MHz, I started the beta version that you had advised me to use in the M550 K6 233 (i430TX), it works, but I noticed that the info of the sound card, are in the "Video Card" section, and those of the video card, we find them in the "Video Card 2" section, honestly I don't know if it's an oversight, or it's a coincidence that put them in this order, just to clarify, the video card is an AGP, the sound card instead is PCI.

I'll put the pictures where you can see what I described to you, I hope I was useful to you, greetings 🫡

Ok Thanks to you
Currently the PC is on the bench, because I made some changes, the CPU is now a Pentium III 500, the 400 will serve me on other Slot1 MBs.
I only need a few days (maybe more than a few), but as soon as I can I'll attach the file

on a 430NX system with parity RAM installed and parity enabled in BIOS, ASTRA shows [x] for parity but with "disabled" next to it. has the parity check been tested with this chipset? also, are the memory/cache timings it lists from a database or from an actual BIOS readout? and it's saying march 1993 for launch date, which should be for 430LX.

what is remarkable about this tool is it's the first one that actually shows SMART data for old IDE drives, for some reason i don't recall any other tool being able to do this.

edit: found that the tool has problems when two VGAs are installed, in my case an onboard ET4000 and a 4mb matrox millennium. information for the latter is mixed into the section of the former. it displays this in the system summary, although the issue is similar in the video section:

Video Card
Video Chip Vendor: TSENG Labs Inc
Video Chip: ET4000/W32P Rev C
Video Chip Type: Matrox Millennium (2064W)
VESA OEM String: Matrox Graphics Inc.
Bus Type: PCI
Video Memory Size: 2 MB

Video Card 2
Video Chip Vendor: Matrox Graphics Inc
Video Chip: MGA-2064W Storm (Millennium board)
Bus Type: PCI

and finally, a visual remark - it seems to me horizontal scrolling should be eliminated, it's a bit distracting right now. for almost all descriptions where scrolling is needed, there is enough space to move everything a bit to the left. and in the few cases where that's not enough, another line could be used without much issue.
