Copy display drivers from old Windows 98 install over to new install?

I recently got an old Pentium 2 laptop that came with a French version of Windows 98 installed on it. I just put a fresh English install of W98 on it, and noticed that the default drivers only allow the display to be used at 640x480 with 16 colors, which looks terrible on the 1024x768 screen. I haven't found the drivers for this laptop online but I did make a backup of the original Windows folder, so I have the drivers in there somewhere. Does anyone know how to locate them, and use them on my new install?

Haven't tried this myself but If I would look for it, I'd do something like this

Look for the .INF file that references the VGA card in the old windows backup
Copy all the files referenced within it, including the .INF file itself to the same location on your new windows install
remove the standard display adapter from the new windows & reboot.

Right to repair is fundamental. You own it, you're allowed to fix it.

Take a look in the windows\inf directory. Then scavange the missing driver files from the system32 folder after selecting the correct *.inf file.

i386 16 ⇒ i486 DX4 100 ⇒ Pentium MMX 200 ⇒ Athlon Pluto 700 ⇒ AthlonXP 1700+ ⇒ Opteron 165 ⇒ Dual Opteron 856

There are a lot of files in there! But I found one that references the Trident 9525 chip, and also references Toshiba (the laptop is a Toshiba Satellite 4060XCDT), so I am fairly sure I'm getting close. It seems to be the graphics chip that this laptop uses.
