Aww, did I miss it? My searches show nothing.

It's item number 135316842371 . If that means anything to you.

Yep, it didn't show up in any searches because there is no shipping option to USA.

Odd, I checked shipping details, and there it mentions

Ships to Worldwide

Oh well 😀 Glad you found it.

This looks great.

Any chance of a version that will be compatible with the old systems that have an external ISO expansion (like the Ollivetti PC1 or the Schneider EuroPC)?

This model will most likely not fit the expansion due to the support for the bracket.

Cheers,

Hi,

I have bought this and it's amazing. I do have a quick question, however.

I want to use a ps/2 mouse and if I connect it with a ps/2 to usb adapter, the mouse is not found. Any way I can get this to work? Or am I asking a lot?

Thanks

Your PS2 mouse likely does not support USB, thus usage of a passive adapter will not work. You will need either a USB mouse or an active USB PS2 adapter which most often can be found in the variety that has two ps2 connectors, one for keyboard, one for mouse.

Another issue came up. Mouse is working fine on DOS but not on windows 3.1

I see we have an OPEN issue on github (https://github.com/FreddyVRetro/ISA-PicoMEM/issues/47), but did someone managed to make this work?

Thanks.

Also, another issue: It appears Adlib support is not fully working? For example, on Bumpy I can hear the music, but not the sound effects, if that makes sense, or I am missing something?

I wonder someone tried GB size HDD image on PicoMEM. It seems PicoMEM can handle 4 disks then 8GB (2GB * 4 drives) can be used?

Volume size depends on the int13 handler in the bios and the version of DOS you are using. PicoMem includes an int13h handler from DoSbox, so the BIOS shouldn’t be a problem. If you are using FreeDOS, you should be able to mount some large img files. The main problem is that sometimes slower CPU’s are not always powerful enough to make navigating large FAT volumes pleasant. If you try to use a 2GB volume on an XT, you might find yourself wishing you kept it under 200MB.

I just saw that freddy pushed some commits to his git repo, including a big one with a lot of new source code: https://github.com/FreddyVRetro/ISA-PicoMEM/c … 24e85871e030db1

Changes according to readme:
### PM_W_Jan1: Various improvement in the RAM emulation, Corrections
- New: PSRAM Code improved (DMA Added): PSRAM based RAM and EMS is 30% faster.
- New: 5ns faster ROM/RAM Read cycles.
- New: Access to BIOS Memory doesn't add delay anymore. (Faster BIOS)
- New: Improved BIOS RAM Test, to detect RAM/ROM conflict.
- New: Added detection of cache enabled in the BIOS Address space.
- New: Disk infos now show the Head/Sector/Cylinder.
- New: Display why the EMS can't be enabled in the BIOS.

I am curious, there are some PCs, like Packard Bell 486s, that use varta batteries soldered to the board, and if the batteries are dead it will not let you boot from either a floppy or HDD until the battery is replaced.

Assuming the board has a dead battery but is still functional enough to post to the error, would picomem's bios serve to potentially get past that limitation of the motherboard bios?

Seems like the systems that can’t boot without a battery halt during the power on self test. PicoMEM bios works like an option rom, no? It wouldn’t take effect until after the power on self test completes.

Hi,

Just saw that someone published the news on the latest Firmware.

I also published a new PM2000 Driver. (Wifi network packet driver)

It can now work for machines with a CPU > 80186

The problem was the "fix" I found here (Vogons) for 8bit card.
This fix was working for 8086/8088, but not for machines with 186 or more.

Also mtcp author did a fix in mtcp preventing the Wifi based network card to stop working after a timeout (Without trafic)
This new mTCP and pm2000 should solve some problems then.

Just received this great device. Another request for usb keyboard support, as i’m using an At&t 6300 (Olivetti M24) that uses a proprietary keyboard and mouse interface. I need to buy a stock keyboard for testing now, but hopefor a solution that will work with my usb kvm….

I'm not sure if the PicoMEM (or PicoGUS) can emulate a keyboard in parallel to the original keyboard controller.

But there is a project for connecting a standard DIN keyboard to an Olivetti M4: https://forum.vcfed.org/index.php?threads/oli … emulator.67339/ and there is also a project to convert a USB keyboard to a PS/2 keyboard (PS/2 and DIN are electrically compatible, so you can simply connect CLOCK to CLOCK and DATA to DATA): https://github.com/No0ne/ps2x2pico

With some effort it should be possible to connect the Pico directly to the 74LS07 (skipping the Levelshifter and the Arduino completely).
