Hi all,
I got a POD83 without a fan, and wanted to make something that matched the original and didn't modify the POD.
It's a model in FreeCAD that takes a 5Volt 40mm fan and connects to the POD with a set of pogo pins. The POD is aware of the fan because of a 1kOhm resistor.
The model consists of two parts; the main mount, and the pogo-pin holder.
This is what it looks like assembled and on the POD:
Parts list:
-1x Noctua NF-A4x20 5V
-3x pogo pins 5mm long, 1.5mm diam (https://nl.aliexpress.com/item/1005006095992803.html)
-1x 1kOhm trough-hole resistor
Build instructions:
1. Mount the fan with the screws included in the Noctua kit.
2. Clip the wires. Be careful to keep enough length to assemble easily.
3. Strip the red and black wires. Not yellow- not used in this project.
4. Solder pogo pins to red and black
5. Solder the resistor to the pogo pin with the black wire. Then solder another pogo pin to the other side of the resistor.
6. Use pliers to press the pins in the pogo-pin holder. Use schematic below, this represents the pads of the POD as seen from the top. Be careful not to bend them or break the wire off-you cant solder once they are in the holder, it will melt!
7. Press the pogo pin holder in the main model.
8. Click on POD. Might need to trim a bit with an x-acto here and there.

I hope this is of benefit.
