So I've got carmageddon 1 on a real cd, a pentium 166 PC with working CD rom drive, and I can't for the life of me figure out how to get music to play during gameplay...
The cdda music exists on the disc, I can readily play it with CD player programs.
The game's readme file says you must do the maximum size installation in order to get the CD music, as otherwise the game will be pulling too much data off the CD for the music to work... So I've done the maximum size install.
The set sound program tells me to configure a soundcard for sfx and midi (but no options related to CD audio). Anyways that's all configured properly and sfx work in game with no trouble.
The music volume slider in the options menu is at a reasonable level.
Cd audio in other dos games such a Screamer and Ignition are working properly. My cdrom drive is in good condition and I have an appropriate cable for CD audio going to my sound card...
Does anyone have any suggestions?
